With an aim apparently towards the kind of space that TOOL, HAWKWIND, KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD and their ilk overlap into in a Venn diagram, they have nailed that and created a truly brilliant release that should garner them even further support in all of the right places.
Ever unpredictable and inspired, >>>> is anything but run-of-the-mill.
Saw squid praising this on twitter and if my goats say its good then it must be good
EDIT: yeah.
Very cool album, I can definitely feel a bit of a Portishead vibe in the songwriting but there's a LOT going on instrumentally.
There's a few moments in the tracklist where the songs kind of go nowhere, but the music has such a pleasant aura to it that turning the album off at any moment just doesn't feel like a possibility.
Did you hear the fucking bassline on "Secrets"????
At once organic and industrial, this dreary, melancholic album from Bristol could be classified as any number of different genres (but *all* those possible genres begin with "post-").
Standout tracks: Hungry Are We, Ah Yeh, Bloody Miles.
Despite the bonkers cover, Beak> has quite the laid-back, methodical approach to their musicianship with the occasional standout moment.
Can definitely hear the Portishead influence but this record did more for me than a lot of Jeff Barrow’s original work
