The Guardian
He may be known as a SoundCloud rapper but is a long way from the violent idiocy of Lil Pump, 6ix9ine et al.

Highsnobiety
It’s supercharged and proudly infantile – like a rap-pop record without any of the reductiveness.

HipHopDX

There is by no means dazzling wordplay, vivid storytelling or smash hits to be indulged through Amen but there are some strong beats courtesy of the man himself.

Rich Brian didn’t need to go so hard with the image change, but as far as debut albums go, Amen is catchy, it’s not gimmicky, it’s not annoying, and there’s just enough Chigga still in there to keep things entertaining.

Clash
The overriding, inescapable, and most important aspect of ‘Amen,’ ... is that it is fun. Fun to listen to, fun (it seems) to have made and no doubt fun to perform.

The Needle Drop
Rich Brian shows more personality than many of his contemporaries on his debut project, but his sound is a bit too one-note to satisfy in a full-length context.

Pitchfork

The debut from Rich Brian has the fun, wit, and snark of a choice tweet but lacks the essential qualities of a solid well-made rap album.

Exclaim!

Rich Brian's full-length debut isn't good in any typical sense, which shouldn't shock anyone ... What sucks about Amen is that it's not even atypically good.

Back to this album after listening to "The Sailor", it's a shock. Brian has matured so much in 2 years, it's amazing.

You may have known him by another name. Because this young newcomer had started the year 2017 with a good resolution: change his pseudonym Rich Chigga to Rich Brian. The Indonesian rapper was the author of "Dat $tick" when he was only 16 years old. This dumb banger was really a revelation for me. Two years later, he released his debut album "Amen". ... read more

The album cover of this album was me listening to it and waiting for something interesting to happen.

"Amen" has some pretty good production and I see plenty of talent here. Unfortunately, Brian's pen game needs a lot of work and there's a lot of filler that just bored me halfway through the record.

He literally improved on The sailor so much, his flow is not so choppy, his lyrics aren't so childish and basic, and the instrumentation doesn't sound like "type beats" from YouTube. I can see him becoming a great artist that is respected in the rap game
