I never thought I could be bored by a Titus Andronicus album.

Cool name but also how about some substance to ur music? Holy fuck this was way too long and unmemorable. There were some nice tracks here but overall I was left with a sense of distaste and nothingness after hearing this. Coming off from his last album uhhh what the fuck happened?

Okay so as much as I want to like every Titus Andronicus album, this one is a little bland.

There isn't much in terms of songwriting, even the instrumentals just feel so generic. I guess if I don't compare it the band previous work its still a "meh" rock album.

Void of all substantial characteristics that made Androndicus fun to listen to.

Poco inspirado, tedioso y anodino a partes iguales. He asistido a colonoscopias más interesantes. Un híbrido atroz entre un The Clash descafeinado e inofensivo, un Bruce Springsteen de marca blanca y un Bob Dylan pasado de rosca.

Very depressing that a band that once made a masterpiece like The Monitor can fizzle out so much. Patrick Stickles, noted for his lyricism, has some songs on here that are just surprisingly void of substance (Real Talk, Home Alone) even if they do kinda jam. It seems like the ones where his pen is the mightiest, are the ones that just don't hook you with anything aurally pleasing to the ear (Number One, Crass Tattoo). A meh reinterpretation of a Dylan classic is surprisingly a highlight. I've ... read more

A part of me is sad and disappointed about this for strictly cheap sentimental reasons, only because I’ve happened to listen to this band’s stuff quite a bit for several years. That’s just a “me” thing, though, and there’s no real argument to it. I assure you that that small side of me does not find its way into my review or overall judgment of it at all. The rest of me is sad and disappointed because this work failed to come through in its already ... read more

Titus Andronicus here put down the electric guitars and leave their Punk attitude at home for their "mature" album. All of that I'm fine with, it's bound to happen to most bands at one point or another. But Patrick Stickles and company also end up leaving their energy and songwriting talents at home as well. There are a few tracks on here that come off as they were meant to, as emotional, heartfelt drunken ballads. Hell, they even come off charming, and absolutely had me singing ... read more

A Productive Cough is a prime example of an album absolutely drowning in its influences. The opener, “Number One (in New York),” starts the album out on an incredible high note. The song is a hypnotic slow-burner that, whilst owing an obvious debt to the Boss, sounds like a logical extension of [email protected]‘s over-the-top, anthemic punk. However, things go downhill fast after that. “Real Talk” borrows it’s classic barroom melody from standards past, and does not use it ... read more

Titus Andronicus' turn to 70's rock on this record is certainly interesting, but it unfortunately comes off as a plain, boring pastiche of that sound. On my first listen, so many songs just blew past me due to the fact that they barely changed up and repeated listens really didn't reveal much extra. Vocally, I think that this album is much more bearable than previous releases, and there are some pretty potent moments within the record that feel like they are building up some kind of ... read more
