The LP plays out like a walk through an eclectic art gallery after hours. Nothing feels wasted or out of place; the meticulous nuances are evident throughout.

Loud and Quiet
His debut album ‘Pure Beauty’ is triumphant. Over neo-boom bap beats and immaculate samples, he spits Kanye-esque braggadocio, Nas-like street knowledge and even flirts with being Jay Z for a track (the epic ‘Palace Intrigue’). Whichever rap-hat he tries on, he rocks.

Drowned in Sound
As he continues to explore the arts and its many forms, SHIRT needs to better develop his lyrical skill if pure beauty is what he aims to achieve, but this debut marks a promising start.

Pitchfork

Pure Beauty plays out ... committing wholly to neither SHIRT’s appealing raw rap chops nor his grander concepts.

So generic and boring. Best song is literally a girl talking for like 6 minutes and it was better than anything else on this album.

If I could describe this album in a phrase, hit or miss. It describes his lyricism, vocal delivery, beat style, and production. One song can sound clean and smooth with a strong boom-bap beat, then followed up by a poorly balanced (at times painful) vocal layering on a lo-fi beat. The sporadic nature of the album makes it hard to enjoy front to back. There are definitely a few tracks that have strong replay value (WOMAN IS GOD for example) but the total lack of cohesion across the tracks ... read more

This experimental boom bap album is refreshing and boring at the same time. Clever lyrics, nice beats but somehow doesn't really leave an impact on the listener.
