Above all, Wait for Love shows that Pianos Become the Teeth have a firm grip on a sound and identity that's beautiful, poignant and wholly their own, and it shows that they can keep maturing without having to constantly recreate themselves.

The intensely serious post-hardcore band marks the turn from death and loss to life and love with nimble musicianship, inventive rhythms, and Kyle Durfey’s most accomplished singing yet.

The Line of Best Fit

There’s no doubt that Pianos Become The Teeth are fully aware of where they want to be; all that’s left is a little more refinement and consistency to get them to that point.

Maturing past their screamo years was a necessary endeavor, but on Wait for Love, PBTT feel a bit stuck in phase two.

Abandoning their screamo roots was a mistake.

Keep You was a phenomenal record. Not sure why they had to water down everything for this one. Some of these choruses are just too dime-a-dozen amongst a Hot Topic record bin for them to get any emotional response from me, which is a travesty, considering their previous record constantly had me on the edge of tears. Decent tracks here or there aside, they played it too safe.

BEST TRACKS: Bloody Sweet, Dry Spells, Charisma, Bay of Dreams

I really like their sound on this album as they transition from screams into something more like Balance and Composure.

... read more

This is nothing more than a very pretty, likable emo rock record. To be completely honest, Wait for Love sounds a lot like many other albums created in this vein, and there really isn't a single original thing about it. However, the excellent production, musicianship (especially the drumming), and subdued, melancholy vocals really make this record stand out despite its obvious lack of originality. While I probably won't be returning to this record a lot throughout the year, it is, nonetheless, ... read more
