Suburban Light is a brilliant introduction to the band, and over repeated listens, the songs grow both more distinctive and more interconnected, boasting a richly nuanced intricacy as intoxicating as it is elusive.
Though The Clientele would go on to release better albums, Suburban Light holds a special place in indie-rock history—unabashedly pretty music that came out during a rock revival.
This one of the most unoriginal borning albums I have ever heard. I understand wanting to build off of the sound of the 60s but when your record brings nothing new to the table at all, I will just listen to The Beatles or Small Faces

Just realised that I hadn't rated this. It's one that I've listened to the most. Suburban Light really hits my sweet spot for indie pop. Great melodies and guitar playing. You can never go wrong with these songs for a walk on a rainy day...
Every song on this feels like an extremely mysterious random song that was uploaded to the internet that no one can figure out who made it or when it was made- think songs like 'like the wind' or 'everyone knows that'. This album feels so familiar and so different at the same time. It's like a perfect mix of being derivative (in a good way ofc) and original at the same time
