Drowned in Sound

Equal parts gospel, soul and hip hop the result is a very sexy record indeed that is probably more a continuation of 60s and 70s soul music than groundbreaking r’n’b.

The Guardian

Packed with unique ideas and brilliantly realised, Miss E...So Addictive is further evidence of Elliott's refusal to play male rappers at their own game and her desire to change the rules entirely. It's an album that sets its own agenda and sounds like nothing else in hip-hop: an incomparable achievement.

AllMusic

Though it fails to come up with anything to top her big singles hit, "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," Miss E...So Addictive is her best album so far.

Pitchfork

A lot of albums kick off with the killer track. Some even manage a cool one-two punch. Missy Elliott's third record, on the other hand, opens with a six-track attack that's rare for any genre, especially contemporary R&B.

There seems to be an unparalleled emphasis on the beats. Vocals didn't overwhelm each track, allowing it to border on a rave feel. The album truly does feel unique.

For the most part, Miss E is less R&B-oriented than it is dance-rooted. Songs like "Lick Shots" and the tabla-infused first single, "Get Ur Freak On," are bona-fide party tracks

NME
It's a blessing that the surrogate mum to the hip-hop youth of America is out there pushing for sounds as deranged, commercial, newly kinetic, and socially risque as those licking your ears in 'X-tasy' and 'Slap! Slap! Slap!'.

Spin
A kind, weird club crunker, Ecstasy references included.

Rolling Stone
Miss E is a mess, of course, and not all the experiments work as brilliantly as the single. But if you prefer risky messes to tidy formula, tracks like "Scream a.k.a. Itchin' " and "Step Off" will freak you up something fierce.

Timbaland stepped his game up, so Missy had more hits, simple as that. Lick Shots, Get Ur Freak On, Take Away, Step Off, were decent, but there's a glaring lack of lyrical quality.

Best rap album made by a female, Missy shows her more charismatic persona on this album with the lively and melodic production, which is truly amazing on this album. Interesting album most of the time.

On her third album, Missy surprises me with her musical evolution, is a good and groundbreaking album. I also want to say that all the tracks are there for a reason and I would not change the order or remove any of them.

Incrível, o álbum é icônico e um marco na carreira de Missy já que a mesma introduziu a originalidade no mercado do rap logo após Hill fugindo de assuntos saturados ou cansativos, o álbum é ICÔNICO.
