Time & Space is Turnstile taking what worked from their prior material and seasoning it with a modern, diverse zest. While this body of work has some blunders, the band are well on their way to what might soon be their pinnacle release.

DIY

Sneaking under the half-hour mark, ‘Time & Space’ is a comprehensive thrash that places Turnstile as the most inventive, forward-thinking band in hardcore.

70
Tiny Mix Tapes

Time & Space explodes with positive energy, emphasizing the rebuilding of oneself while the band itself builds together as a unit. This is not novel to hardcore, but it’s a bold thing to embrace while the rest of the genre focuses on going fast and hard.

Drowned in Sound

It certainly is an impressive genre album with enough little touches to keep it distinct and interesting ... however ultimately, it doesn't quite justify the tremendous amount of hype, not yet at least.

65
Spectrum Culture
Flashes of different ideas display further potential had the band given themselves more space to flesh them out. Ideas get quickly abandoned, however, and the band moves on to explore the next experiment on the list.

The Guardian

Their teeth-rattling riffola certainly has its generic moments, but they incorporate everything from post-punk to jazzy lounge music.

Pitchfork

The “experimentation” on the Baltimore band’s latest album is hesitant and unfocused. It’s a punishingly familiar collision of yesteryear's crossover rock with textbook hardcore bluster.

50
The Needle Drop
Though there are some bright spots and risks that pay off, Turnstile's sophomore album mostly offers run-of-the-mill New York hardcore with a bit of window dressing.

It's pretty clear that Turnstile has found their voice with this record. Apart from a couple of odd moments (especially the track Moon, which sticks out like a sore thumb set on fire), the band deliveres fast, zany and unabashedly furious hardcore that sounds both classic and inventive for the genre as a whole.

I’m not very familiar with hardcore as a genre but Turnstile have always brought the kind of high-octane rush that I love. It’s impossible to listen to this record at any volume below max, so whenever I listen to it, so do you. There’s a bit more style variation and playfulnesson this album than their previous efforts, but they’re more flourishes than actualchanges. All throughout, it’s never not a hardcore record, so it’s over in a tight 25 minutes. So ... read more

Does it reinvent the wheel of hardcore? No. Is it arguably the most fun, groovy, memorable hardcore record in recent memory? Hell yes. Turnstile doesn't give a damn about your pre-conceived notions of tough guy hardcore culture, they're here to have fun. Sure, there are punishingly fast songs on here (Big Smile, High Pressure, Come Back For More/HOY) but there are plenty of songs that could practically fit right in at a sporting event (Real Thing, Generator, Moon). This record succeeds for its ... read more
