This whole debacle was so weird to me. Was 4AD expecting Three Futures to be some massive indie success? Was the fact that Scott had a shred of Pitchfork hype back in like 2013-2015 enough to make 4AD execs view her as a meal ticket? They have so many artists who fly under the radar, like I honestly don't know anyone outside of this website who cares about Aldous Harding. Were they expecting Scott to replace St. Vincent's niche? Is that why 'Skim' was the way it was?
