as much as taylor swift goes hard, red is not a top 100 album oat holy shit. same with take care, appetite of destruction and beyonce(2013). whats going on as number 1 is a cool pick tho

rolling stone is a decent music news source and nothing else. this is the weirdest list ever

The list starts off poorly, Arcade Fire - Funeral at 500, Harry Styles - Fine Line at 491

I think the top 100 was a lot more interesting than most of the other odd picks they made along the way, putting the highest Beatles ranking at #5 was bold, but kind of cool

What's Going On is certainly a great album, but putting it as number 1 is a bit of an odd choice if you ask me

Bad Bunny y Daddy Yankee incluidos

Reggae Stones

No human being, regardless of their tastes, can read this entire list and without a "what the -" moment.

Very strange list, many placements I disagree with

W for putting Automatic for the People in top 100 tho

There were a lot of picks I found "interesting" to say the least.

No REO Styx jethro tull zz top Aerosmith and no list would complete without the geto boys
September 23, 2020
No, Red is not top 100 oat material
September 23, 2020
No Björk in top 100 is just wrong and disrespectful

Red is a great album, but No.99?

Rolling Stone has always been an archaic uninformed yawn of a read, catering to mainstream people with bland taste. No surprise the newest list is shit.

way too many rap albums in the top 50 (i stopped right there. this list bores me, to put it mildly) and there is no way what's going on is the greatest album of all time. also, it proves that certain genres remain permanent critics darlings

Tbh, I really do not understand what makes Pet Sounds so jaw-droppings amazing for Rolling Stone magazine. The production was ahead of its time and there are some great songs, but many albums such as TPAB, OK Computer, IAOTS, Kid A etc. have so much more potency and have really expanded the sounds and artistry of what albums can be today.

so bad it's unintentionally funny

Very mediocre list. It depicts the taste of a group of people who started listening to music after 2000 and thus deify commercial artists such as Taylor Swift or hip hop. For example, Kanye West's MBDTF is good, but not better than Sgt Peppers !!!! Do not go crazy. Let the authors of Rolling Stone clear their ears

Glad some albums that previously weren't featured in this list made the cut. Also, I'm glad they hopped off Beatles' cocks.

It's so amazing how Lemonade, MBDTF and TPAB are overrated. The notion of either of these albums being above Ziggy Stardust, OK Computer, The Velvet Underground, Tapestry and Sgt Pepper is laughable. MBDTF above Highway 61 Revisited is a heresy.

Also Hounds of Love, even though is in top 100, seems way too low. It's top 30 oat material. Bjork not being in top 100 is also funny, Homogenic should be wayyy above. Funeral only at 500... no mention of Joanna Newsom etc. A lot of flaws, but obviously can't please everyone with such a big list.

Also lol at mad boomers in the comments of the article.

If I'm not mistaken, the problem with the list is that the voters didn't really rank their choices... Meaning that it was really just a set of albums meaning that the albums that did the best were just the ones the most people somewhat liked and not their favourites. Even if it was ranked, I still feel the system makes the most widely appealing album and not necessarily the best.
