All My Heroes are Cornballs can be seen as a welcome, if not an unorthodox sequel to 2018’s Veteran. Cornballs still possesses Peggy’s trademark sense of humor, but the moments that impress the most are when the music is somber and meditative.
The 18 tracks on Lover oftentimes slide together like a lot of beautiful puzzle pieces that don’t quite fit together perfectly.
Pang introduces itself a little too quietly to be completely satisfying. However, once you give the album some time and understand its singular rhythms, there are treasures to be found there.
Anima is an album for those who live and breathe music. It lacks an easy approachability, but makes up for it with a soul searching that stays with you long after taking the effort to hear it.
The lovely, streamlined and confident All Mirrors is a personal journey made universal, and an album about the past that realizes the present is what’s most important.
Titanic Rising is a rewarding listen, and although a few later tracks fade a bit too quickly, the atmosphere and imagery created through the first two-thirds create an album that is definitely worth spending some time with.
The siblings are living proof that the most creative works can come from environments where you’re encouraged to create freely, in spite of a world that often tells us the opposite.
