It took my 13 year old son to point me in the direction of this epic I'd never heard ... how does that work???!!!
Great listening to it together with him for the first time and blown away by the overall sonics that gave my subwoofer a decent workout!
Rating may change on further listens and I suspect it wont be downwards!
I've held off rating this for a week post release as I thought it would be a 'grower' after the first few listens ... I was right!
Not going to add all 80's alternative and New York 2000's references as they have all been said & written ... Mostly fairly and accurately!
This is though, utterly brilliant and it keeps growing even after (what last.fm tells me is) 20+ full listens (all non-stop).
My score may go up and this may be my earliest shout for album of the year ever!

With shades of early Mono, Pg.Lost and Jakob, this is a refreshing reminder of what the post-rock / post-metal genre can deliver when done well. All in all a superb listen with some surprises (saxophones anyone?) that demands to be listened to in one go, over and over ... love it!
Tidying up my digital music collection (read iTunes) mess and rediscovering some long forgotten downloads ... started with the 'Post-Rock' genre (its the one that takes up the most disk space!) and remembering just how impactful this classic is ... its utterly brilliant!
Only one full listen in to be fair but this initially comes across as one of Ryan's most consistent and impactful offerings ... I'll let this breathe a bit but its a 'must listen' for sure!
