The opening tracks set up an album that I was happy to follow along with, the concept of Dawn FM and how it shapes the rest of the album intrigued me. The production is incredible once again, something Abel never misses on. The majority of the first half was delivered strongly, there are some great songs on there, Abel's love for retro synth sounds shines through on this project massively and is proof that The Weeknd is always evolving his style and his drive in music.

Olivia's second album GUTS is an overall improvement to her debut. Her ambition shines through with an early 2000's rock style sounding like an adolescent Paramore, bringing her own uniqueness of ballads and punky rock to modern pop. The album kicks off to a very strong start, the first three tracks set a high bar of quality for the rest of the album.

After Hours is injected with life and energy. Abel constantly evolves his sound and style, this being his most mature and pop record out of his discography. The album's dark presence is distracted by the upbeat and brisk synths, along with Abel's sprightly vocals. The second half is by far stronger, with some of the most polished production and mixing I've heard from The Weeknd.

There's a massive lack of energy and charisma throughout this project.
I am in no way a hater of Travis' work, Utopia is one of my favourite releases of this year. But as listening to this post Utopia I naturally compare the two, and this is no where near the same level of hype, energy and impacfulness. A dark, disturbing and grimy depicture a of reckless partying, drug-inflicted and sexual lifestyle.
This album can only be described as beautifully ugly. A gloomy atmosphere is created by Abel's gentle and leisurely
delivered lines, the production is incredibly druggy and hard-hitting and builds the environment that you are at a "House Of Balloons". The album can feel a little inconsistent, the first two tracks are a slow opener until you reach the exciting title track which has some ... read more
