Built to Spill - Perfect from Now On

My favorite rock record ever! Every moment has so many more guitar layers underneath the surface that makes every revisit rewarding regardless of what setup you’re playing it on.

I’ve described it to people as “Midwest Emo if all of the members had music & philosophy PhDs, but not in a pretentious way”

I listened to it on my 22nd birthday on edibles while playing Spider-Man 2 on GameCube and I experienced ego death in that moment. This is as perfect as rock music ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs

I had over 2000 plays on this album back in high school when it came out. I have no idea how I survived.

Life changing record, happy to be in my Live Laugh Love era now

Probably the most evil album ever made. Never has being a total degenerate sounded so sexy and glamorous. I've also never heard an R&B album that samples Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie & the Banshees and Beach House and fully makes them its own.

The "Happy House" hook belongs to The Weeknd now, and subtly turning "Cherry Coloured Funk" into one of the most ass-smackable grooves I've ever heard is truly mind blowing.

Very impressive on a technical level with the way they use loop pedals (and it's gotta be hard to play in those costumes!) but the record itself mostly sounds like King Gizzard practice sessions/lacks the sauce and personality I like out of music like this

Laurel Halo - Quarantine

In all my years of music fiending, I've never encountered an album that made me feel like this. Its spaciness and loose structures make it feel like an internal monologue as I go throughout my day, with the hooks all being memorable affirmations.

M.I.A. - M.I.7

Is the 30 minutes of silence at the end necessary? No, but setting aside time to pray at the end of your Christian album is somewhat admirable. Granted, I’d be more pissed at it if we didn’t live in the streaming age where I could easily skip to the last 3 minutes and didn’t have to buy the album.

Pretty, hilarious, soul-crushingly cynical.

Like day-drinking, it adds spice to my day regardless of what mood I’m in.

Music genuinely peaked with this one
