this is unfathomably well mixed, and the vocal inflections are immaculate
Yes this album has some pretty objectively mid songs, however, the last 3 tracks on the album are some of their best work in my opinion. Separator is Weird Fishes if it were on AMSP, Give Up the Ghost is serene and transportive, and Codex is just beautiful. In addition, Lotus Flower as well as Bloom are great tracks. I could forget about tracks 2-4, but for almost any band with a lesser reputation, this album is a defining moment. It also does a great job of bridging the gap between In Rainbows ... read more
Just went back and listened to this again. Got to the end and played it 3 more times. (86 -> 89)
It's four songs and they're all virtually the same, but I keep finding myself going back to this for some reason. Just like the movie, this feels more than it is. If Black Boy Fly, Now or Never, and The Recipe replaced Compton and Poetic Justice (Sorry I'm tired of it) GKMC would be perfect.
J Cole trap doesn't work for me. I don't really like lil baby, and he had the best verse on this album.
This is just a mediocre attempt at turning the last 2 minutes of "Exit Music (For A Film)" into an entire album.
