Love - Album Rep. #1

Personal experience: Absolutely none! Well, I guess I've heard the Calexico cover of Alone Again Or, but yea.

Expectations: It'll be good but nothing too special.

Historical background: This album was a psychedelic smash hit upon release. However, culturally, it was very distinct from the other hippie albums of the time because it was willing to go darker than "lol drugs make me see weird things."

The review: This is a great album! Some of these songs are skips, yea, but the seven or eight that aren't are very radical. Especially the opener, which is absolutely stunning. Yes, a good bit of this is 60s-psychedelia-of-the-week, but it really works. Not to confuse cause with effect, but I can very much tell Ween liked these guys. I can confirm I will definitely be revisiting these guys. These songs are interesting, unique, and just so well written.

Enjoyment: 9/10
Importance: 7/10
