The sixth studio album by the American rock band Weezer, this honestly caught me off guard with how good some of the songs were. The album starts with the track troublemaker, which really isn’t great, but it is still not bad, I like the instrumental. The greatest man that ever lived is one of the greatest ever Weezer tracks. The amount of risks taken in the song, the amount of styles it covers, it is mesmerising and an incredible track. Pork and beans is the song that got me into Weezer, and is probably my favourite track they’ve done, the chorus is really nice, and the verses sound great. Heart songs is another track I love, many write off as a cheesy ballad, but I really like it. Dreamin’ is another track that constantly changes style, and i love it. Thought I knew is a song that I used to hate, but on relisten, it really is quite good, and the album ender the angel and the one is one of the greatest songs Weezer ever did. However, this has quite a few awful tracks. Everybody get dangerous is the best of the bad tracks, the verses sound pretty good, but the chorus is insufferable and the lyrics are awful. Automatic is a song sung by drummer Patrick Wilson, and is really bad. And then the track old dark world is probably my least favourite Weezer track in general, the instruments are bad besides the guitar solo, Rivers doesn’t sound great, and the lyrics are really cringe enducing. Overall, the lows are really really bad, but you cannot deny the sheer greatness of some of these tracks.
