i have been meaning to talk about this album for a LONG time now, and now that i feel that i've truly immersed myself in every aspect of it, i think i am ready

forget everything you knew about Lil Yachty before now!
to state the obvious, this album diverts a LOT from Lil Yachty's typical work - whereas his previous work was your run-of-the-mill trap rap, this derails from that genre for a psychedelic rock record with a sound similar to that of Tame Impala and even Pink Floyd at times (most notably with the opening track)

Beastie Boys has been an artist that i've known for quite a long time, as a lot of the people i know in real life are fans of them, most notably my father and my school therapist, however, this is my first time going out of my way to listen to music of theirs
the main thing that stood out to me before listening to this record is it being a rather early example of hip-hop as a genre of music, releasing in the 1980s - and, it still manages to hold up pretty well in spite of some kinda outdated ... read more
i've been actively trying to listen to more non-English albums as of late, and i'm glad that i'm at least getting somewhere with it, even if not often
there's always this charm with foreign albums, one of beautiful mystique, as truly amazing non-English albums surpass the need to be lyrically understandable - the weight and emotions of the instrumentals alone is enough to fully immerse oneself in an album of such nature
