black midi - Hellfire

i have been meaning to talk about this album for a LONG time now, and now that i feel that i've truly immersed myself in every aspect of it, i think i am ready

every since first listening to this some months back while trying to listen to more 2022 albums, this album quickly caught me off-guard with how off-the-rails, brutal, and beautiful it is all at once, and, ever since, it has risen to become one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time, as well as my 2nd favorite rock album, just below ... read more

2023 ALBUMS - 4/52

forget everything you knew about Lil Yachty before now!

to state the obvious, this album diverts a LOT from Lil Yachty's typical work - whereas his previous work was your run-of-the-mill trap rap, this derails from that genre for a psychedelic rock record with a sound similar to that of Tame Impala and even Pink Floyd at times (most notably with the opening track)

i've been actively trying to listen to more non-English albums as of late, and i'm glad that i'm at least getting somewhere with it, even if not often

there's always this charm with foreign albums, one of beautiful mystique, as truly amazing non-English albums surpass the need to be lyrically understandable - the weight and emotions of the instrumentals alone is enough to fully immerse oneself in an album of such nature

luckily, and rather obviously, this album has some incredible production ... read more

I know the 2010s ended over 2 years ago, but I only got into music recently and 2010s music defined my childhood Peaking in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 counts as a hit for me
