This was very hit-or-miss. I liked piasse and Revolution pas tranquille a whole lot. Shake was also pretty good, albeit with it being the only one I could sort of understand, I found it corny.
ALso Cayo Perico and Piasse go dumb
I enjoy hearing modern-era experimental electronic music outside of the flavor-of-the-month experimental genre (right now, it's maximalist rage/club bangers, which I admittedly do love), and this rating might be a little glaze. It was very cohesive, lowkey, and sweet.
I thought some of the throughout this project, where she explains why she hates different guys (e.g., A Coucionairy tale and Mr. Eclectic), were annoying, and reminiscent of Taylor Swift-esque power pop in terms of the writing. I do not like Taylor Swift-esque Power Pop. Those tracks got very repetitive throughout the album. This was so beautiful and ethereal. It kinda tapers off near the end, but it’s overall great. Every track works smoothly with one another.
Many of the ideas in this track are great, but the overall cohesion between these ideas left something to be desired. The hook is also bad.
The last track was basically pretentious filler, but the 2nd track was incredible.
This album is basically a mixtape, especially in the beginning. There is little sonic or topical cohesion, and I wish he just went down that route, and along the way, removed the hook from "EWR – Terminal A, Gate 20." This album is probably Aesop Rock's best album since The Impossible Kid. The feature list is great to.
