AFAIK the strokes were kinda mailing it in here for the last album in their record deal (just look at the album art). It's still not a bad album, it's just not as memorable as the rest of the Strokes's catalogue. There are still some great songs here, but the main issue is the filler surrounding them. For the standout tracks - Tap Out has some exquisite melodies, One Way Trigger is like a the Strokes take on Take on Me, Welcome to Japan is a dynamic jam.
