Yoko Takahashi & Megumi Hayashibara - EVANGELION FINALLY
90

An amazing compilation that showcases the beauty and wonder that Evangelion has. It's a series of tracks that with or without the context of the series or scene one may typically need to appreciate it fully isn't an issue. Each track is beautifully composed, sang, and crafted to near perfection, creating an experience that many media empires similar to NGE may only hope to achieve.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
90

As we continue to depart further and further from Plastic Beach's release, the closer we seem to drift towards the message Gorillaz had warned about. It becomes ever more haunting and beautiful with each passing visit that one can make, a new experience awaiting if they choose to make one more visit.

Jane Remover - Census Designated

Originally, when I was going through Jane Remover's discography, I had only listened to "Frailty" and the singles for what would lead to "Ghostholding" in preparation for their next project that was due to come out, "Revengeseekerz".

At the time of listening to "Census Designated", I knew I had enjoyed, but felt that "Frailty" in comparison was the better project. "Census" to me was overly tiring to get through, whereas in ... read more

Billy Joel - Turnstiles

Although there are some outstanding tracks with rich wordplay and creative composition with tracks like "New York State of Mind" and "Say Goodbye to Hollywood", some tracks more to be desired such as "James". It's a fun listen, with the highs being very high, but the lows are what holds the album back from what would have been an incredible album.

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
100

What an album. There's a certain melancholy mixed with sweetness that works extremely well, making for quite an emotionally filling album for it's 37 runtime. There's some fun summer tunes like "Wouldn't It Be Nice" or "Sloop John B", to more creative pop sounds such as the title track "Pet Sounds". Of course, the biggest one and the clear standout track continues to be "God Only Knows". It's elegant, beautifully written, ... read more

Muse - Origin of Symmetry

Angsty, a bit much, but I can't hate it. I can see the emotions behind the performance and vocals on display, with great care given to the production as well.

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
80

I listened to this while on a train ride and "Radio Cure" made me get a little emotional while watching the scenery of small town businesses and lush greenery blur in front of me. A great album to walk or explore to.

Chipmunks on 16 Speed - Vol.1

It's novelty of being chipmunk songs that are pitched and slowed down can only bring the project so far.

sign crushes motorist - i'll be okay

I remember seeing this album making the rounds on social media when it first released, with the most eye-catching part to me was the album cover.

This big dog, bearing its teeth as it's being gripped by someone with a vainy and strong hand. The tucked ears, the expression of troubledness, a photograph framed as a moment to remember like a Polaroid you would find in a shoebox. It always caught my attention whenever I would see it. So, trying to find a new album to listen to, the cover ... read more

Daniel Johnston - 1990

Despite much of the lyrics being simple, it's very much not in emotions. It's quite a somber album, with tracks like "Careless Soul" or "Softly and Tenderly" providing an almost atmospheric and yearning feeling.

Amazing lo-fi album, happy to give some of my time to it.

Oliver Tree - Ugly is Beautiful

Released back in Summer 2020, it was an album that I listened to and loved when I first heard it. I was in High School, Covid was in full swing. I was following along with the album's roll-out, initially finding the project through the single "Hurt" and it's music video.

Now listening to it now, it's quite clear that it isn't the best, not even an okay album. Much of the songs, lyrically and sonically, have now been replicated and done better in the current ... read more

Roar - I Can't Handle Change
90

This album has always found its way into my life one or another. I had found the album through the track "Christmas Kids", as a SoundCloud re-upload with a Morton Salt girl as it's cover instead. Jump forward a few years, I was intrigued by the story behind the album, reading the Wikipedia entry based on the couple and the album.

It wasn't until this past year that I finally sat down and listened to the EP. I must say, it's quite a vibe and quite an experience to go ... read more

"@LongWordThatLoo i agree with your assessment. haven't listened to the new single (as i usually only do lead single only for an upcoming album), but i do hope the project isn't just more of this track we've heard here."
