Graduation - the definition of simple yet effective. Kanye adapts his sound to a much more electronic and bouncy style compared to his prior albums where his sampling and production was much more acoustic based, and he adapts it pretty well. The problem with this LP however is that it's aged the worst out of all of his albums, because the production style is extremely 2000s based and can sound pretty annoying at times. It is only irritating at times however, as this album still packs the ... read more
Well uh... this sucks I guess (the split not the album lol). But 28 revolutionary years in the industry can most definitely take a toll on you. Like everyone else I'm of course sad as hell that Daft Punk are no more, but I'm even more devastated because I only listened to Discovery a few days ago, so it felt recent and... weird? I was thinking about doing reviews for the two Punk albums that I've heard and then bang. Crazy how stuff works like that.
Anyways, in this short message before the ... read more
RTJ2 remains as the power duo's magnum opus that serves a fantastic helping of relentless bangers covering a wide arry of topics, such as how good RTJ is, the corruption and brutality of the police, and of course having a male reproductive organ in the oesophagus of a female for an entire 24 hours.
Within 11 tracks (ignoring the forgettable bonus track), the lads pack in a hell of a lot of punch. Oh My Darling Don't Cry, Lie Cheat Steal and Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck) are just a small ... read more
Abstract is a term that's been attached to many things in many mediums, whether it be in music, films or in another form. But to this day, I will still hold Black Up as the most abstract experience I've ever had, and one that I will endlessly love and be able to come back to due to its seemingly infinite nature, leaving you with a completely different feeling every time you adventure through the listening. THIS is abstract, this is what it means to not have something solid to hold upon and to ... read more
SATURATION is... kinda simple? Uhhh, easy to get into? But simple and easy doesn't mean bad, it just means that it feels like a slight let down after the huge hype up for BROCKHAMPTON that I've seen beforehand. There's some good stuff on here, I was just expecting...more? I'm unsure of how to put it to be honest, but to dumb it down in a TL:DR, I like this album, but yeah it's a tad overrated. I guess that having 85 members can make a project seem a little all over the place at times.

The Roots are more known nowadays for their presence on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, but I believe it's literally a sin to not hear the music that these guys push out because it's absolutely staggering. Undun's mix of lyricism, amazing instrumentals and great storytelling all add together to make a project that is quite simply beautiful.
There's a real mix of songs on here that each use wildly different sounds, but the tracks still retain their linkage to one another through Thought's bars and ... read more
It's okay I guess.

Uhh.. It's good to try something new I guess?
Judging by the cover I expected Freddie to be rapping over lavish or funky and interesting beats, but instead it's just a generic trap album with little to no high points whatsoever. Nothing sticks with me, nothing is rememberable, and absolutely nothing stands at the same height as Freddie's holy trinity (Alfredo, Bandana and Piñata). I just don't get the trap appeal whatsoever unfortunately.
The problem with having a near perfect ... read more
Donald takes yet another interesting turn with 3.15.20, making yet another completely different sound for himself compared to his last album, but with much less effectiveness. What stands in the way of 3.15.20 being solid is its lack of polish and an identity, as the music isn't potent enough to transcend the sloppy titles and album cover. I mean come on Donald, it's just uploading a .png right? If you need help with it I'm sure we'd be happy to help.
I love how Donald really tries to ... read more
It's weird to think that Drake went from rich sad boy to monotonous 1 billion play maker within the span of a few years. Anyways, Take Care is a simple yet effective release from Drake that has become his most prized album by many since its release. However, it's nowhere near perfect or fantastic to say the least, with some patches appearing all through the listening.
The best moments on Take Care are the sombre instrumentals and downtrodden tones of Drake that steps away from his usual ... read more
Flower Boy's reputation is infamous across the entirety of the music industry, and it's no wonder since it's such a good album. However, I found myself not enjoying it nearly as much as most people due to some personal slip ups that I feel the LP holds, but nonetheless it's still a great listen.
Foreword is possibly one of the best album openers I've ever heard: soft, subtle yet angsty with Tyler's lyrics and delivery. And this same sound proceeds into the rest of Flower Boy, with tracks like ... read more
On 4:44, Jay-Z invents a new prime for himself in which he gets slightly more personal and intimate with his listeners, discussing topics like black economics in America and the legacy he's curated and will potentially leave behind. It's a fascinating listen, and a fantastic album from one of rap's biggest names.
The best track is by far The Story Of O.J., a haunting and enveloping track that places you into a dystopia of Jay's creation. It seriously sounds like nothing I've ever experienced ... read more
Woah. So I've never heard much Logic before listening, only knowing songs like 1-800 and Homicide, but of course I heard the numerous complaints about how terrible his 2019 music was. But this project has painted an incredible portrait of Logic for me, and a portrait that I intend to keep clean, so I will not be visiting his older stuff.
There are a relentless number of bangers, with Celebration, Open Mic\\Aquarius III and Heard Em Say, hell - even the album's intro, being the personal ... read more
Trying to pick between whether The College Dropout or Late Registration is like trying to choose between whether you prefer Tom Hanks or Keanu Reeves, since they're both equally lovable even though they're not perfect in some of their executions (I'm looking at you Da Vinci Code and... half of Keanu's film catalogue). In my opinion, Late Registration has way higher highs than College Dropout, but still has a few lows.
But seriously, look at the first three tracks. Heard 'Em Say, Touch The Sky, ... read more
I vividly remember hearing Me And Your Mama for the first time and genuinely believing that I was entering hell itself. It's such an epic opener for an album that has remained as Donald's best and most concise project, and has made a sound for Donald that I am ever so desperate to hear again. It's a soulful and epic experience to sit through, and is easily Gambino's best album to date.

I heard the name Black Thought being tossed around as one of the most solid MC's of all time, so I decided to randomly delve in to his newest LP a few months ago. Boy oh boy this man can spit bars huh.
Thought seems to delve into a whole range of topics in a pretty short amount of time, which can feel sometimes blunt, but honestly you don't mind when the constant bars and solid beats just keep coming and coming. State Prisoner is the anthem that remains extremely prominent with me from Vol 3, ... read more
Visions Of Bodies Being Burned revels in being a heart pounding experience in two ways, one in a scary horrorcore way and one in a hardcore hip hop way. It's an incredible listening experience, but afterwards I feel as if the horrorcore aspects drag down the album and make it slightly tiresome, because I want to hear less of the weird creepy interludes and aromas outside of the instrumentals and more of Daveed's absolutely sensational bars.

I don't like trap. I never have. It's always seemed monotonous and annoying to me. But, TA13OO has made me realise that there are at least some good trap songs out there, they're just swamped with lots of mediocrity surrounding them. I didn't know what to expect from this album, with it being my first direct trap album, and it was okay, but nothing that I'd consider to be taste-changing, or to change my opinion that trap is bland compared to the rest of the wide world of hip hop.

Solid, solid, SOLID. Piñata is simply a solid hip hop record for a solid listening, with no bad tracks and banger after banger, with relentless rhymes from Freddie and co and Madlib back on his top form that could possibly match the infamous Madvillainy. I listened to this on a whim last year, and still to this day I consider it an absolutely amazing album.
Due to Madlib's often sporadic production style, it's hard for me to remember some of the songs unless I've overplayed them (like I ... read more
