Wilco - Ode to Joy

The cover to Ode to Joy is fitting in a way; the album sounds like a blank, painfully empty void, absolutely devoid of a personality or face. Its only emotion is a state of soulless ennui. Pleasant and very listenable on the surface, yes, but once you get past that surface-level threshold of enjoyment, there is very little to dissect here. It's almost reminiscent of Mac DeMarco's latest effort in some respects. Both get stale quickly, and don't even present the bare minimum when it comes to refreshing or interesting ideas.
