This LP is more concise than its predecessors, but for all the better. The prominence of strings elevates the atmosphere and the production seems just about right for what Panopticon aims to achieve, and they do so with flying blackened colours
Some elements realllly hit the fulcrum of shoegaze, dream pop and blackgaze, but I feel like the last two tracks are just immemorable and Melting Sun just doesn't really lead anywhere interesting.
I can’t get over just how THICK and luscious this album sounds. The guitar tones are impactful and the bass is as present as ever. Kenny’s vocals are crystal and the drumming is just stellar.
There’s still plenty for me to absorb (especially in the second half), but even on the first listen ‘In Verses’ was certainly worth the thirteen year wait
so this is that new-fangled Thrash Metal the kids are listening to these days….
3 good songs, 2 that are ok, and a whole lot of abrasive wub wub goofing around that reminds me why i don’t return to this era of Muse
Deftones have transcended their legacy and matured their abilities, weaving soaring textures and the feeling of floating into their distinct alt-metal sound. 'private music' is simply a cohesive effort that is best listened to as a whole, letting yourself sink into the atmosphere.
An absolutely wicked post-metal / mathcore project. So well constructed and full of high moments, with instances that are ferocious, buoyant and entrancing without feeling forced or unnecessary.
This LP has some great hypnotic and warm moments, but there's space in between the higher moments that are just a little unmemorable. Still a great Slowdive output, and an overall soothing listen
I knew this was gonna be good, but by no means did I expect this. Deafheaven have really knocked it out the park.
LPWP is a concise summary of everything the band is known for and so much more. Start to finish, this LP is a blessing on the ears, boasting excellently produced blackgaze that remains surprising, contrasting, and intentional.
This one’s gonna be on repeat for a while.
Breathtaking…
One can appreciate the alt-rock duo experimenting with a quieter and more restrained sound, as I did when I listened on my way to work at 3am this morning.
The synth sounds are well-crafted and gel with the lo-fi Cleopatrick production we're used to, and the soft-rock approach to their latest LP is suprising yet feels quite natural.
Despite all its robotic prettyness and the interesting change in direction however, FAKE MOON is just not all that memorable, and feels more of an experiment ... read more
some decent cuts between the smoothness, but mainly an album that’s probably better at coercing you into sleep that anything to tell the grandkids about. not a negative thing in this case!
I imagine this would have some extra hypnotic charm listening at nighttime driving around empty city streets
A super solid Mathcore record all the way through, with quite a number of moments where the pieces fall into place and makes it very difficult to avoid a headbang.
I havent listened to too much in this genre, but the bar has been set pretty high with this one….
This made my Monday.
Phenomenal post-hardcore/screamo album that twists and turns in unexpected ways. the vocals are wicked and break up the continually exciting riffs and fills put forward by a rhythm section that is absolutely locked in. Highlight for me was the insane drumming, with some excellent production flourishes in the instrumental sections where the riffs feel almost hypnotic. Above and beyond my expectations
