Is it really that bad? Well yeah, the album is way longer than it needs to be, yeah, the second half doesn’t need to exist, yeah, most of the songs are quite boring.
But cmon. This album isn’t bad. Nonstop, Gods Plan, Mob Ties, Cant Take a Joke, Sandra’s Rose, Talk Up, Nice For What, In My Feelings. Those are 8 very strong tracks. 8 is a very good amount of standout songs, even if the other ones aren’t too great. Is this a consistent album? Fuck no, but my ratings for albums aren’t just for the consistency of the albums. How many standout songs an album has matters just as much as consistency, and this has a good 8 standouts. Plus, nothing besides Summer Games and Ratchet Happy Birthday is downright awful
Also I gotta say, man, Sandra’s rose is probably a top 10 Drake song, and honestly one of the best rap songs of 2018. Premo STILL making amazing beats after 30 years. Just another reason why he is the GOAT producer.
