Sincerely, this is one of the best albums I've ever listened. The powerful and confessional lyrics, the sharp and precise instrumentation — everything has a beautiful and raw taste. The Idler Wheel touches me personally, it makes me think, feel and realize many things in my life. Fiona Apple is truly gifted, she shares her inner person with the listener, in a way that her statements means a lot concerning our own experiences. I simply don't know what to expect from her next ... read more

I think Kelela was the best thing that happened to R&B in 2013. She's got great voice skills and her lyrics are really good. Her soulful sing-songwriting (with cool vibes from the 90s) matches perfectly the team of underground, left-field producers that worked on her debut mixtape — Nguzunguzu, Kingdom, Bok Bok and Morri$, the crew from Fade To Mind. It's more experimental, shifting pace abruptly to make crazy, busy — and sometimes weird — collages. "Come Walk With Me" is the ... read more

I really like Impersonator. The album grew (and still grows) on me with every listen, in personal and emotional ways. Devon Welsh's piercing vocals, lyrics composed with raw, direct and urgent emotions and well-built instrumentation make this an unique work. Bravo!

Well produced, sonically ambitious, darker than her previous works: Once I Was an Eagle is a big effort from a talented artist. Laura Marling is young, almost 24, but she's built a solid and respectable discography so far. At this point of her career, age is not what matters most. This album makes me want to know the directions she's gonna take in the future. She keeps progressing and establishing her skills as a musician and a lyricist, making exquisite medleys ("Take The Night ... read more
