Say what you want bout the man, but Slauson is undeniably a unique talent. These tracks are influenced by so many different sounds and genres from bedroom pop to sound collage to hip-hop, Slauson Malone's music almost transcends genres. At least for now, maybe moving on this'll spark some new musical movement. I certainly hope so...
I actually think I fuck with this more than Slauson's 2019 effort, which was met with tons of critical acclaim and a new fanbase. Compared to "A Quiet Farwell", "Vergangenheitsbewältigung" is much more heavy-handed with the melodic and acoustic elements implemented. Making for a more rewarding experience with tracks like "Smile #6", "The Wake Pt.3 & 2". At least, these are my thoughts at the moment.
I definitely have more to say soon, I'm gonna re-visit "A Quiet Farwell" and listen to this one a few more times through. What I know is true is that Slauson is in a lane of his own.
(YOOO...I was gonna make a King Krule comparison, but I was afraid of sounding stupid. But I think i've heard that opinion some other places as well...)
