The Hybrid Theory/Reanimation double bill was, in my opinion, peak Linkin Park. The 1999-2002 era found the boys still balancing their rock/hip hop sound, before fully shedding the hip hop in subsequent releases. The Devil Is In The Details feels like being gently lulled to sleep by Satan. How the hell do you even go about achieving such a mood.

GILA continues to mystify just as much as he makes a crowd move. There's grooves a plenty, with rich percussion and the type of gangster-ready, cold blooded atmosphere you would find in the early GTA or Need For Speed entries. It reminds me in parts of Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto's work in The Revenant. Very foreboding, stripped down, almost tribalesque. During the segments of the story where tension is stretched to its absolute maximum, the primal percussion and underlaying sub bass work wonders. And when its time to open the floodgates (see Ellie and Joel's final scene) Gustavo's trademark folksy guitar work returns. Each note hitting like an emotional bulldozer.

Imagine Skrillex but he's a crackhead with a thick Cockney accent and severe OCD. If that puts you off, stay within a mile from this project, because things only get worse.

This record's opening lyrics are “I'm gonna stuff that thing up your fuckin ass” and the closing are “D'ye want me tae fuckin tell ye?” (imagine the latter with a Scottish accent), both excerpts from low quality real life youtube videos of angry (and drunk) people saying mean things to each other. ... read more

Pleasantly surprised by Adam's take on a slow, indie rock ballad. Got a bit of that New York-y rom com tinge. Its good! Will def check the album out.

You will not be disappointed. Endlessly quotable and Sandler does an excellent job becoming Howard.
