Yeah guys, I have to redo this one, there's just no way my previous half assed review did this masterpiece justice. It's very rare that a record grows THIS much on me in such a short span of time, it's dangerously close to cigarettes (or crack if you wanna go there). Previous review: a good example of a metal/electronica hybrid, djent/dnb respectively. It's still that, but goin a bit deeper and more pretentious: it’s a top tier (if not the best) example of "controlled chaos" ... read more

Children and Geogaddi get all the rep, but Campfire Headphase is just as much of a bliss-induced coma. The darkness and stealthy satanic undertones are completely gone, leaving only that sense of fleeting happiness. Like browsing through a polaroid collection of a long-lost relative or wandering through the yards of an abandoned school - BOC operate at this specific frequency, the crest and trough of each wave tuned for maximum melancholia in Headphase.

Gyro ditches dnb almost entirely and goes full confield/gantz graf era autechre on us. Melodies are few and far between, with fantastic glitch work and cerebral polyrhythms filling the remaining gaps. The last track tho, "PCM", shifts gears into what I can only describe as noisy hyperpop, with pitch shifted vocals and angsty lyrics. I strongly feel this is a tribute to SOPHIE, but that's just my interpretation.
Another solid release for Gyro, but setting dnb aside kinda robbed her ... read more

A bit too sugary and optimistic for my taste, but that's Riskr's way of doing things and I respect that. No bad tracks here, a few so so ones and a couple of highlights - the sprawling structure of "fade away" and its driving second half prove Riskr's just scratching the surface of what she can do. Looking forward to mixtape n 2.

Merging good ol 90s breakage with a more modern bass heftiness, out comes S.Murks 3rd volume of nastiness. Equal parts squat rave and production porn. An absolute must for any breakcore fan/junglist.
Music to overthrow your government to.

The master of slightly oriental-sounding downtempo releases another beat collection. As with all his other lps, the tracklist is a hit or meh, no misses (he's far too in control of his craft to outright make a "bad track"). I think I enjoyed every single tune here, but there was no SHIT, QUICK, SAVE THAT TRACK moment. I remember a few of those in Migration and Borders, so I'll rate this one slightly lower. But by all means, try it out if you're already invested in this genre.

Hey Mate,
Just wondering if you were able to contribute to a list by @CamDoesMusic and @truthfulreviews based upon your 10 favourite 90's albums. This would work through you messaging myself a list from 1 being the best and 10th being the 10th best album you have listened to from the 90's. If you are able to contribute with a quote summarising the particular album as well that would be awesome! Your information delivered to us will be used to create a list named "AOTY Users Favourite 90's Albums".

Thank You So Much, Have a Great Day :)
