Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Who Built the Moon?
Nov 25, 2017

It's possible to feel that Noel Gallagher definitely had a solid idea of what he intended to do on this record. However, any potential - both lyrically and instrumentally - that might be found on the first minute-or-so of most of the tracks on this thing is completely wasted away by the time the first chorus is over.
Noel's limited vocal range doesn't help matters, making half of the songs on here sound completely stale.
The only tracks where the promise of 'Who Built the Moon?' doesn't seem to have completely flown away are the ones that have some actual punch behind them, like the single 'Holy Mountain' or even the fantastic intro 'Fort Knox'. But beyond those and perhaps also a couple of deep cuts... the feeling I get when leaving this is a solid, rock hard meh.

Favourite tracks: 'Holy Mountain', 'Fort Knox', 'Keep On Reaching', 'Black & White Sunshine'
Least favourite track: 'It's A Beautiful World'
