The happiest Big Thief has ever sounded... Don't let their jaunty drums and guitars fool you. Lenker's vocals and lyrics will catch you off guard with incomprehensible deep perspective and the softest sadness. Always of fan of their work, and this is easily one of the best releases of this year.
Fav songs: "Incomprehensible", "Words", "Happy With You", "How Could I Have Known"
Though I do appreciate its cohesiveness, this album was poorly executed. The draw of Mac's album is its disjointed, unique execution. This lacked his usual style and sounded over produced.
Fav songs: "Terror", "Home", "Punishment", "Holy"
Just as cheeky as last time. I wasn't expecting much lyrical and thematic development... and I wasn't surprised. At least she semi-decided to stick to one genre for the entire album. Sadly, she is incapable of multitasking and sacrificed her catchiness, which was the only appeal from the last album.
Fav songs: "Tears", "Never Getting Laid", "House Tour", "Goodbye"
Great ideas and musicality... poor execution. The worst part of this album is Chance's delivery and inability to flow with the beat. Also, the musical cohesion had just disappeared for some of the songs. Does Chance know that this isn't a mixtape? Based on his LP track record, maybe he should stick to mixtapes to avoid the disappointment of an incohesive, half-baked album. Enjoyed the commentary on the culture and gospel influence. Unfortunately, his R&B features and production ... read more
Unfortunately, Conan's vocals carry this album. Unimaginative lyricism and repetitive subject matter. I just listened to 12 of the same songs, not that they were bad, just forgettable and corny. Sometimes his writing makes me forget he's 26 (not in a good way). A total downgrade from his experimentation and creativity in his last project. Surprisingly, his pop-rock tracks were way stronger and less cringe-y than his ballads.

Less accessible than his last album, but he still displays amazing delivery and rapping. Thoroughly enjoyed the experimentation in song structure and melodies. Album cover is a +
Fav songs: "WRK", "VCRs", "Wholeheartedly", "No Boo", "Of Blue"
Justin finally captures the elusive "decent cohesive R&b album"... thank you producers. Surprisingly musically cohesive and great production. He just couldn't refrain from adding corny ad-libs (ig money does NOT buy taste). Rap features could've been left out. Even though I hated them, the Druski ad-libs and pretend therapy sessions are a great show of Justin's emotional development...

Fun album, reminds me of a Flower Boy x CMIYGL era. Seemed shorter and less fleshed out than other projects. I guess it will tie me over until his next project...
Fav songs: "Big Poe", "Ring Ring Ring", "I'll Take Care of You"
Made for brainless listening by seemingly brainless direction. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't a downgrade from that last project... Fun project tho
Fav songs: "KICKOUT", "WHERE WAS YOU", "NO COMMENTS", "PBT", "OUTSIDE"
Incredibly interested in Pink's musical evolution. I am super satisfied with how she continues to grow her sound. It had much more confident vocals and incredible cohesion for a mixtape.
Fav songs: "Illegal", "Tonight", "Stateside", "Romeo"
If Owl City was a girl band and had no auto tune, this is what they would create. It sounds exactly how the album cover looks. It does a great job balancing between 2000s teen rock and HAIM's unique sound. I was pleasantly surprised at the positive evolution and experimentation with their sound.
Fav songs: "Down to be wrong", "Lucky Stars", "Million years", "Try to feel my pain", "Spinning", "Cry",
Lorde, please give me discernment in understanding the continual hype of your career. I must not be edgy and misunderstood enough to not find Lorde's lyricism to be relatable. At this point, she's a one-trick pony: vague lyrics that are cool for young adults, and production that gives her critical credibility. It's not bad, I was just hoping for more evolution after Melodrama and her Solar Power experiment.

A surprisingly serious attempt at music. Addison's vocals are lacking, but the production saves this so bad. Disappointed in the lack of BOOM BOOM BASS :( Addison is coming for that Grammy lol. She's lowkey has the best tiktoker music.

An elevated, lush version of Isolation. Her vocals make me want to ascend, plus the groovy, smooth production and consistent cohesion push this album ahead of her other pop R&B work. I'm happy that her Latin albums did not diminish her ability to make indie pop R&B hits and melodies.
Fav songs: "For: You", "All I Can Say", "Daggers!", "Angels All Around Me...", "Breeze!"
Lucy is feeling the honeymoon stage FULLL force. The entire album sounds like a quiet morning walk through a dewy meadow of lesbianism. Just makes me want to frolic and skip with joy that a stable, loving relationship must give you. Goodbye depression, Hello whimsy!
Fav songs: "Ankles", "Modigliani", "Forever Is A Feeling", "Most Wanted Man"
Great debut. Perfect mix between indie pop and alternative R&B, reminds me of early Steve Lacy. Production is groovy but the distorted vocals and recording limits this album to feeling very indie (not in a good way).
Fav songs: "Bleed", "Walk to Class", "Florence", "Concrete", "Cheer Me On"
