The Cure - Pictures of You

I think I've come to the realization this is probably my favorite written song of all time. The lyrics are wonderfully dreadful and the instrumentation is so perfect and atmospheric. Robert Smith's delivery is also fantastic. One of those songs that reminds me why I love music so much.

Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape

Dave Grohl is a very talented dude, and while this is usually pretty good, I just wish it would be pretty great. Songs like Monkey Wrench, My Hero, and by far Everlong do the heavy lifting for this album.

Derek and The Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs
78

A good album but one that is very clearly carried by its title track. Well actually I like Bell Bottom Blues a lot too, but Layla is the clear highlight, and is probably a top 5-10 love and rock song is all time. The rest is solid, but lots of tracks have a tendency to run a little too long. The playing here is undeniably really good, it's just not overall the most engaging album despite some real highs.

LUNAR - The Lifted Hours (12-6) (VOL. 1 Of Clear Minds)
86

A wonderful display of this artist's production capabilities. A nice breezy listen with great Boom Bap and Lofi soundscapes. In fact, the whole thing feels like a nice little love letter to hip hop, as there are multiple genres on display on a couple of the songs here, like trap and chipmunk soul. This album isn't going to blow your socks off or is trying to be the best thing ever, but it is a damn consistent and very enjoyable 30 minutes. On Cloud 9 is my favorite here. Check it out!

Lil Peep - crybaby

You know I didn't really think emo rap would be my thing at all, and while it really isn't, I like this. It's short and gives me a decent enough experience with rarely any moments that make me cringe which is what I was anticipating way more. I was NOT expecting yesterday to sound like that.

A profound, lyrical masterpiece with game changing production and introspective, deep lyrics from the goat of rap, Lil B.

No words can do him or his work justice but fuck you I'll try.

To example the unmatched genius of the one and only Lil B, we need to dive head first into some of the lyrics.

On Real Plexxx, the 6th song on the magnum opus of rap, Lil B says these generational bars.

No goat, but I'll bring that ... read more

Michael Jackson - Bad
87

The more low-key tracks on here are not nearly as strong as his previous two albums, not weak tracks but they almost border the line on forgettable. However, the hits here are some of his all time best tracks, I'd argue undeniably. Michael was one hell of a vocalist and this album is probably his best showing in that regard. And this is prime Michael Jackson, so obviously the production is fantastic. The weakest of his big three but still a very strong album.

The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile
66

I like The Beach Boys a lot...but I don't know about this album. They definitely experimented with it but I can't say I think most of this works that well. Heroes and Villains and especially Good Vibrations are great songs and save this album to falling into complete obscurity in my mind.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
90

What a trip this album is. While Jimi Hendrix isn't my absolute favorite in this genre, his talent was undeniable. The musicianship on this is off the wall crazy. And the best songs on this are REALLY good. Definitely worthy of its praise even if I won't claim it as an absolute all time favorite.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold as Love
85

Honestly I think I like this more than Are You Experienced. That album is more consistent but this album fucks. It's crazy how this was a very rushed album, you can't hear that in the music at all.

Queen - Sheer Heart Attack
77

Queen is a very good band but they are one of those bands that definitely arrived in making hits rather than cohesive albums. Although to this albums credit, some songs do flow into each other well, which makes this album actually feel like, well an album. Now does that mean every song is great or memorable? Not really. Still, a solid album. Killer Queen is one of their best hits.

Natural Snow Buildings - The Winter Ray
94

One of the prettiest albums I've ever heard. The soundscapes on this are nothing short of gorgeous. A very cold and almost lonely feeling album, it simultaneously made me feel comforted and disturbed. Fantastic album.

Wilco - Summerteeth
84

Jeff Tweedy has to have one of my favorite voices in music. There's something so comforting about his voice, I can't even pinpoint why.

leroy - dariacore
70

What the hell?

Yellow Swans - Going Places
80

Very good stuff here. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did honestly, since while I can listen to most genres of music, Noise is definitely one that is not a favorite of mine. This does the genre right though, by immersing you into the atmosphere and using the harshness of the noise to complete it, rather than just being loud for the sake of being loud. There's so very beautiful moments on here. This one surprised me, I liked it a lot.

Gang Starr - Moment of Truth
93

A generational album. Despite its lengthy runtime, it's ideas and lyrically content always make it engaging. DJ Premier is one of the best producers of all time, and there are tons of great beats on this. Guru monotone and laid back delivery displays how he so effortlessly flows and raps over the beats. There's also just no skips in this tracklist, the title track is one of hip hops all time greatest songs. Overall, an absolute essential for an hip hop fan.

Geese - 3D Country
100

My favorite song of theirs, it perfectly demonstrates what makes this band so fresh and original. The delivery on this is fantastic, I love Cameron Winter's vocal variety.

A$AP Rocky - LIVE.LOVE.A$AP
87

One of the most enjoyable albums honestly. It's not perfect but damn this is just tons of fun. I love Rocky's delivery on this and some of that production is absolutely legendary. He's that pretty motherfucker.

The Doors - Waiting for the Sun
77

Not their best by any means but I just like this band a lot, so I still enjoy this a lot. Short and to the point.
