black midi - Schlagenheim

4/13/22

[Relisten] 89->99

My love for Cavalcade overshadowed this for a long time. This is a perfect experience
Weatherday & Asian Glow - Weatherglow

It's still great, but most songs have slowly shrunk on me. There's not a bad song, but I just haven't loved it as much as when I first heard it. Still the best album this year from the indie scene.
sonhos tomam conta - hypnagogia
71
4/16/22

[First listen]

Some lyrics are kinda over dramatic, but instrumentation does compliment it.
Dope Body - Natural History
87
4/17/22

[Relisten] 89->87
Kanye West - Graduation
53
4/19/22

[Relisten]

Still think this project is INCREDIBLY mid. There's a few songs that are decent to pretty good that hold this project up from a negative score. All the other songs are either bad or aged TERRIBLEY.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Paper Mâché Dream Balloon
71
4/20/22

[First listen]

Trying to finish KG's discography before the new album. Thought today would be a good day for that. This is easily one of the most enjoyable listens ever. Despite me not totally loving it, I loved the experience it gave me.
Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
70
4/20/22

[Relisten] 79->70

In going through kanyes albums again, I was very excited so see how my opinion would change. Despite me lowering the score, I'd say I appreciate this album A LOT more. He captures pain in a way not really done before this.
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
98
4/20/22

[Relisten] 92->98

A personal favourite weed album. Maybe the most ambitious hip hop albums of all time. A ton of the best verses of all time. Problems with this album seem more as a suggestion, like you really can just look right past the problems of this. Perfect in a way.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Murder of the Universe
69
4/21/22

[First listen]

Great concept. Very ambitious. But the fuzziness of this record in particular holds back the instrumentation a lot more for me. I wouldn't say it drags or is uninteresting at all tho.
Miracle Musical - Hawaii: Part II
19
4/22/22

[First listen]

insufferable.
Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
52
4/23/22

[First listen]

Such a hollow, drag of an album. Despite it only being 35 minutes I was bored for about 30 of those minutes. Kanye sounded fucking terrible both times he was featured. Beats are lackluster. Delivery is awkward at times, and mostly always uninteresting.
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - High Visceral {Part 1}
90
4/25/22

[Relisten] 88->90

I relistened after hearing their new album, and yeh, this is one of the best psych rock albums ever.
ź³µģ¤‘ė„ė‘‘ (Mid-Air Thief) - ź³µģ¤‘ė„ė• (Gongjoong Doduk)
84
4/26/22

[First listen]

A lot of cool ideas that were better refined on Crumbling.
Boris - Heavy Rocks
79
4/26/22

[First listen]

Pretty good stoner metal. Nothing crazy, but it wad consistently enjoyable.
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
88
4/26/22

[First listen]

THE BASSzzH O#%I: *QJM(wtl
Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day
58
4/27/22

[First listen]

The fact that this is a concept album about weed and I don't like it is so disappointing. Soundtrack 2 My Life and Pursuit of Happiness were great. Everything else was completely forgettable.
Hatchie - Giving The World Away
65
4/28/22

[First listen]

Cool glittery pop. Catchy and enjoyable. Nothing sticks out really tho.
Prince & The Revolution - Purple Rain
72
4/29/22

[First listen]

I have the shirt, so I figured it's time I listen to this. It's pretty good, but it's kinda just great for it's time. Don't get me wrong it's some enjoyable 80's pop. But that's most of what it is. The songs that go beyond that are my favourite.
Lil Ugly Mane - Mista Thug Isolation
75
4/29/22

[First listen]

It's good, but it's just not my thing. A few stand outs, a few duds.

Hearing more of his discography makes me appreciate this a lot more.
Swans - To Be Kind
86
5/1/22

[Relisten] 70->86
Jamiroquai - The Return of the Space Cowboy
75
5/4/22

[First listen]

Some weird jazz with incredible bass, but unfortunately the album isn't very consistent. The songs that are good are amazing. The other songs are good, but they just don't reach the same highs.
Melody's Echo Chamber - Emotional Eternal
68
5/5/22

[First listen]

Good dream pop. Not crazy interesting, but it's got some cool ideas. I imagine this will grow on me, the bass was absolutely amazing through out this.
Arcade Fire - Everything Now
48
5/5/22

[First listen]

Weirdly enough, always hating arcade fire, I didn't wanna hate this. For some reason playing through the album I was disappointed and wishing I'd like this. I've always called them overrated (which I still stand by) and just generally never liked them, but this...just has a quality. Like it touches some emotions that aren't often touched by a lot of music. Despite this however, the album really isn't great. Pretty soulless singing and weak ideas.
Björk - Debut
77
5/7/22

[First listen]

A very good debut. So good it is THE debut.
black midi - Cavalcovers
86
5/9/22

[First listen]

This fucking band...
Björk - Post
81
5/10/22

[First listen]

Bjork improves a lot on this record. A lot more creative ideas, all fleshed out a little better. My biggest gripe is that It just slowwwwly got less and less interesting as I went on.
Jack Harlow - Come Home the Kids Miss You
40
5/10/22

[First listen]

While at times, legitimately enjoyable for it's stupidity, for the most part this is just bland pop rap.
Arcade Fire - WE
49
5/10/22

[First and last listen]

I tried to take out all of my biases against arcade fire out of this listen, after all they've had a lot of time to improve so I thought maybe they really could do something for me this time. But instead...they didn't. Bad lyrics, bland sound, dumb messages. I guess they production is always pretty good?
JPEGMAFIA - All My Heroes Are Cornballs
90
5/11/22

[First listen]

No clue what I just heard, but I like it.

This might be peggy's best
Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
72
5/12/22

[First listen]

It's good, but Kendrick makes WAYY more interesting stuff with his next few projects.
Lil Ugly Mane - Oblivion Access
98
5/13/22

[First listen]

The darkest album of all time. I'm gonna try and review this at some point.

5/14/22

[Relisten] 93->98

i...have no words for this. It just is my perfect experience.
Ramones - Ramones
35
5/14/22

[Relisten] 40->35

This is a single with 13 b sides
The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention
79
5/14/22

[First listen]

Had a transcendent nap with this

5/20/22

[Relisten] 91->79

Me&me - Playdough Cooked in Tea

5/17/22

[stfu]

While I enjoyed the Chainsmokers album less than this, this doesn't deserve any score other than a 0.
Jack White - Fear of the Dawn
82
5/18/22

[Relisten] 85->78

I've relistened to this about 5 times now. It's consistently fun and engaging, but I don't completely love everything going on.

6/28/22

[Relisten] 78->82

The vinyl sounds fucking incredible.
The Microphones - Don't Wake Me Up
71
5/19/22

[First listen]

I'm gonna try and go through Phil Elverum's discography.
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
86
5/21/20

[First listen]

Widowlicker was fucking insane. Formula was cool, but the last minute made it less enjoyable, and less likely for me to return to it. Third song was cool too, but the only thing I'm coming back to is Widowlicker itself.
The Voidz - Virtue
92
5/23/22

[Relisten] 96->92

This has shrunk on me a little bit since I first really listened to it, but this is absolutely one of the most fun listens of the 2010's. Every song is different from the last, and almost everyone works.
Magdalena Bay - Mercurial World
97
5/24/22

[Relisten] 90->95

This sounds alive.

9/26/22

[Relisten] 95->97

This is one of the most satisfying listens out there. They don't put out songs that aren't enjoyable 100% of the time. So much detail. Endlessly enjoyable
Jack White - Boarding House Reach
79
5/25/22

[First listen]

I definitely need another listen, this was nothing I was expecting.
Fuzz - Fuzz
79
5/25/22

[First listen]

Pretty cool garage rock. This is a Ty Segall side project. It's pretty much his usual sound, but heavier. Works great.
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
70
5/27/22

[Relisten] 68->70

Grew on me. After hours, Pale Blue Eyes and Candy Says are all basically perfect. Nothing else is nearly as good tho.
The Velvet Underground - Loaded
56
5/27/22

[First listen]

Ugh.. this is TVU at their most boring and unoriginal state yet. I don't have a problem with being less experimental, I have a problem with being less interesting.
The Velvet Underground - VU
52
5/28/22

[First listen]

Boring ass 60's pop
The Velvet Underground - Squeeze
40
5/28/22

[First listen]

This is a solo project by none of the original members...?
惟惉ćƒŖ [Midori] - Hello Everyone. Nice to Meet you. We are Midori
76
5/28/22

[First listen]

This is pretty good, I just wish the heavier side, from the first couple of songs, was more prevalent across the whole record. What it does do is make a very enjoyable jazzy-punk crossover.
