C418 - Wanderstop FM
98

I loved the original Wanderstop album and that album was my album of the year so far. However, I noticed the song Endless Velocity wasn't on that album and started to wonder why it wasn't on there. This album answered that question as I see Endless Velocity is the 22nd song on the album. C418 hasn't really released anything major from 2018 to 2025; this and the original soundtrack album are the reasons why.

A question I asked myself before listening to the original Wanderstop ... read more

Feed Me - Calamari Tuesday
78

In my A Song Across Wires dive, I said the following: "I wish more artists took this approach of giving listeners a single project showing every side of what they can do." Feed Me clearly took notes here as this is his most diverse album I've heard. It's got a little bit of everything compiled into a single 16 track album. Electro, House, Dubstep, Trap, Glitch Hop, Drumstep, and even Chiptune are all on this single album. This greatly benefits the album when it comes to a ... read more

ILLENIUM - ASCEND
59

I know a lot of people like this album and think it's one of the most influential albums of the whole melodic bass scene. Since his formula of melodic bass and future bass has been so successful in drawing in streaming numbers, more artists started to migrate towards that style in order to flourish at the time. In 2019, I would've been and was all over this album since I was more of a mainstream bass music fan that year. Unfortunately, tastes in music undergo changes as people get ... read more

BT - A Song Across Wires
73

BT is more known for his trance and IDM but he focuses more on electro house and prog house with this cut. I like how this album offers some more laidback and chilled tunes and some harder hitting bass music. This makes the album a lot more suitable for bass music lovers and not just trance and prog house lovers. I like that he offered a 2 for 1 deal with this album with the bass music and the prog house on this album. As a bass music fan and upcoming prog house fan, I enjoyed this album ... read more

Current Value - PUER
84

Current Value is one of the most innovative and obscure DnB artists in the scene. The way he experiments with different synths, leads, basses, snares, and drums is definitely something that catches my eye. Another thing Current Value is great at is misdirection in his songs. What I mean is he makes the listener anticipate a lighter tone and an easier listen, only for the song to change tone and intensity right when the drop hits and the listener is caught off guard. I'm totally on board ... read more

Urbandawn - Gothenburg Cluster
93

I'm starting to really love what Hospital Records has to offer when it comes to their artist roster and the quality they put out consistently. The collab compilation with Monstercat was something Monstercat desperately needed.

In my honest opinion, this is one of Hospital's finest albums. The variation of styles and sounds in this album keeps the album fresh and full of life. Urbandawn tackles dancefloor DnB, liquid DnB, and neuro all in one package that is Gothenburg Cluster. The ... read more

Jon Hopkins - Immunity
100

After hearing a We Disappear from the album thanks to someone recommending me it, I knew I had to listen to the album given how much I liked Emerald Rush and Everything Connected from Singularity. I was completely floored at how much this album clicked with me on the first listen. The question of "how was this made in 2013?" continued to show up when I was listening to this album. I've genuinely never been more impressed on a first listen than this album right here. Intricate ... read more

Metrik - Ex Machina
84

When I listen to Drum n Bass, I typically don't listen to the dancefloor style too often. However, I gave the style a second chance when I chose to listen to this album. I've wrote off Metrik for God knows how long and it's about time to determine if he's worth the hype and attention he gets. Welp, he made a statement with this album alright. I was anticipating this to be a good album but not anything noteworthy, and I was partially proven wrong. I enjoyed listening to this ... read more

Current Value - Deadly Toys
96

I loved this album from start to finish. The way Current Value experiments with a more metallic and stabby style of DnB yet makes said style sound fresh and unique impresses me so much. Now of course not everyone is gonna be into this style of DnB because it is very aggressive in nature and can sound a little harsh on the ears, but this style is what sets Current Value ahead of all the other DnB artists at the time of this album's release. I tend to favor unique ideas and production when I ... read more

Virtual Riot - Stealing Fire
65

I've heard mostly positive reviews on this album and I was curious about checking it out to see what the buzz was all about. I was left disappointed. Virtual Riot left more to be desired here in my honest opinion. I do like the variety this album has which keeps things fresh. As a result of the variety, I didn't really suffer burnout from this project which is a big win for this album. However, some songs sounded a little too safe and I feel like VR didn't take that many risks ... read more

Dyatic - The Third Kind
91

Ah yes, just another bass music album that has the same sounds repeated over and over again and has a fairly linear concept. Well hold your horses buster, I'm here to tell you that you're flat out wrong here. The Science Fiction theme here rivals Xilent's "We Are Dust," the songs transition seamlessly into one another, and Dyatic's sound and storytelling here executes the concept of a Sci-Fi theme beautifully. Even though most of the songs here aren't as ... read more

PRAANA - Supernal Dawn
76

Albums like these aren't typically how I choose to listen to melodic driven stuff, but I still found some enjoyment in this album. One thing I am going to knock on this album for is it's lack of variation that can cause burnout when listening to it. The only real sense of variation here is the tones and atmospheres among the songs on the album. Some opt for a more melancholic approach while others are more lighthearted in nature. The album picks up steam in the second half after a ... read more

C418 - Wanderstop
94

Back in 2012, I became addicted to playing Minecraft with my brother. One thing I loved about it back then and still love about it now is the soundtrack it had. I love how adventurous and playful each song was in the game. The soundtrack is one of the main reasons that sparked my creativity in the game and my explorative side. Those traits of creativity and exploration are still with me in 2025 and this new album/OST served as both a nostalgia trip and a reminder as to where I got part of my ... read more
