Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
95

Listening to this album on a walk through the woods was one of my best decisions this year. Laughing Stock is one of the most compelling albums I've ever heard, painting a beautiful canvas with its varied instrumentation. The 6 individual tracks are great, each one transporting me to a different world, but when put together they become this lush, gentle, ambient rock Voltron that takes me on a journey through a whimsical forest. From the crushing funeral marches of Myrrhman and Runeii, to ... read more

Em - Deep Sea Jungle

My friend made this!!! I think it is very good, the only real critique I have is how minimilistic it is but the actual drum programming and synth sounds work really well!

Portishead - Third
85

a haunting, dark, dread filled record that maintains a chilling atmosphere for its full 48 minute run-time

Boris - Dronevil -Final-

This album is filled with contradictions. It feels like a spiral to hell, yet it feels hopeful and beautiful. Its filled with drone and ambient, yet it also has some of the most intense metal I've ever heard. Its crushingly dark, yet moments of pure brightness still can be found. I don't even want to say more because going into this album blind feels like the best way to listen. Just remember to be patient, and open minded , and you will be rewarded with some of the most gratifying ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Grow Wings and Fly

That reference to shanghai with those strings... just.... god damn man. They're really flexing their layering ability's here, fucking great

Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things
95

Could do for an updated track list but DAMN this is good! Squarepusher has this insane ability to make some of the most intense DnB rhythms groovy as hell. The pacing on each track is good, the variety from downtempo atmospheric tracks to completly nutty drill and bass is entertaining, and the jazz influence makes this sound very unique. Must listen IDM album.
Edit: Must hear, yippee!

Young Fathers - Cocoa Sugar

Really good, lofi record. However, it is an absolute CRIME that live versions of these songs arent on spotify. The KEXP version of Wire is AMAZING!!!
Edit: Fuck spotify actually

clipping. - Dead Channel Sky

The album is packed with these glitchy digital textures that you rarely ever here in rap, and Daveed giving some of the best story telling he has ever done. Its gonna take a while for me to see where this lands in their discog, but this is another win from clipping.
Edit: Grew off me, but still very good

Can - Tago Mago

Peking O is a top tier karaoke song.

µ-Ziq - Lunatic Harness
89

Some great melody's, insane rhythms, and overall just a lot of fun. This better be must listen at some point.
EDIT: Catkin and Teasal is so fucking PEAK, the fact its one of the lower rated songs on the album is so criminal

TOOL - Lateralus
100

I want the ending section of the title track to last forever, the fettuccine sequence completely consuming me

µ-Ziq - Ease Up
75

Really underrated!!! If you have any interest in IDM/ Trance? this is a really great listen. Ease Up V.I.P is really amazing.

Viagra Boys - Man Made of Meat
73

I don't know what he means when he says he is looking for free womans sweaters, but I am scared

Viagra Boys - Cave World

I use Creepy Crawlers as my main source of modern news.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Live at Red Rocks '22
99

Best live album ever babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

clipping. - Change the Channel

The insane breakbeat/ big beat vibes, the insane stress from the speed from both the beat and Daveed, the crazy acid synths, the weird little reverse snare hits, this is gonna be my AOTY isnt it?

clipping. - There Existed an Addiction to Blood

Fuck off pitchfork, 50% of your takes are dogshit.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O.
75

Gonna need to relisten but this album was pretty great. It was a lot more drone heavy and less sonically varied so it lost my interest a lot, but the production was amazing, the playing was great, and when the album worked it was hypnotic. Like most Godspeed albums I feel like I'll like it more time I give it/

Falling In Reverse - Fashionably Late

This album is proof of the LIBERAL AGENDA!!! These SILLY LEFT WINGERS clearly dont understand art. Always on and on about theor PiNk FlOyD and their Radio heads and what not, but when REAL MUSIC starts playing they say its an 1.1 out of 10! Tell me, could your precious Kendrick Lamar write poignate lyrics such as "My life is like a video game, trying hard to beat the stage". Does Fionna Apple have that white boy swagger rapping right down to a T? Tell me, could your fancy shmancy MF ... read more
