This sucks. This is an underwritten, uninteresting, and derivative album. But I don’t really blame Tate for how bad this came out. These are all problems most young and new artists face when they’re making their first pieces of work. The difference is, those artists don’t land a major label record deal after their first couple of songs and then release a debut album before they’ve figured out who they are as an artist. But RCA snagged her up because she already had a following, and then she was immediately pushed to release a debut album after having a hit song despite her not being ready as an artist in an attempt to have their own version of a Billie Eilish or an Olivia Rodrigo. I don’t know if she’ll ever be a good artist, but she’s clearly still dealing with the typical beginner’s pitfalls and RCA shouldn’t have released this when she’s still in this stage in an attempt to reap the benefits of Billie Eilish.
