Shygirl - Nymph

I’m…really disappointed? I’ve been listening to Shygirl since her “Cruel Practice” EP originally dropped back in 2018 and I’ve loved everything she’s done since then. I’ve waiting for a full length project for the last four years, I was certain that it would deliver…and “Nymph” just isn’t doing it for me. This is significantly more watered down and less interesting than anything she’s done in the past. It sounds like her team tried to clean up her sound for a more commercial appeal, even the few more experimental tracks feel watered down, and I think she lost a lot of what made her special and unique in the process. Shygirl’s previous work was so distinct, but “Nymph” could have been done by anyone. This should have been a slam dunk, and it missed the moment.
