Pretty mediocre in my opinion, but considering the fact that it’s actually listenable I’d consider it a triumph, literally the most enjoyable they’ve been in fifteen years.
now for the love of god don’t bring Butch Walker back.
Very respectable opinion. The one thing that I've been surprised by this LP is that there's a little bit of each Fall Out Boy era for everyone, depending on which one you like the most. Makes me wonder what the reception for this album might've been if this was the one that came out in 2013 and not Save Rock and Roll.
also yes, if butch walker comes back next time, i'm punching my wall.
@R_TheMan_J I have to imagine if it was released then, it would probably be opinion splitting, as least marginally. That said, I think FOB would be viewed like Paramore with an active passionate fanbase with real excitement behind new releases, and not viewed as a legacy act that just so happens to still be making music like they are now.
@BaddieBaphomet i feel like your take about them being a legacy act is kind of,, idk i mean this in a respectful way but ignorant? they still have passionate fanbases they just don't exist on music nerd sites as much as they do tumblr
@Riskr you’re right, I worded that pretty poorly. I think I was just trying to say that I feel like Fall Out Boy would be in a different position if this was released after their first hiatus. Like I know a lot of more casual listeners who don’t keep up with new releases that are still checking out new Paramore stuff, whereas I’m under the impression that most people checking out this new FOB record are more dedicated fans, at least to my knowledge, I could be way off base. I don’t think I phrased what I meant very well and I appreciate you bringing it up respectively
