Stratford Rise - Stratford Rise
90

The next boundary pushing rock act? With this ep and their singles they’re off to an extraordinarily exciting start!

Jack White - No Name
85

The album rips front to back. But it’s not exactly reinventing the wheel as far as blues/garage rock goes.

Libby Quinn - HELLZAPOPPIN
85

Very promising start. If you’re looking for some new noisy math rock with avant-garde elements give this a try.

Boris - Boris at Last -Feedbacker-
95

This thing is massive and crushing, yet I find immense peace in it.

Paramore - Burning Down the House
85

A faithful yet stellar cover of the iconic Heads track.

Talking Heads - The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads
100

A brilliant collection of live recordings that showcases the bands evolution from minimalist art punk to avant-garde funk experimentalists. Some of the best versions of these songs are contained within.

TOOL - Lateralus
95

Absolutely fucks. Dense and ambitious.

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
100

A constant railing against all conventions. It feels so organically constructed. Pure human expression.

Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame
95

The musical prowess of the musicians allows them to craft whatever soundscape they want. From fiery and aggressive prog jams to tranquil and atmospheric neo-classical and jazz, the group exceedingly succeeds at every turn.

Can - Future Days
100

Otherworldly, mysterious, atmospheric, odd, completely ahead of its time. A perfect and incredibly ambitious album.

King Crimson - Discipline
90

Much more art rock than the previous prog releases (while still being technically fantastic) King Crimson crafted one of the best new wave albums of all time. The atmospheres of Frame by Frame and Matte Kudasai are just fantastic and the heavier Indiscipline and Discipline bring unique and complex riffage. Thela reminds of the best elements of Fear of Music, Remain in Light era TH’s.

Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman...
75

It’s grown off me a bit and I haven’t been revisiting it. 80->75

LCD Soundsystem - american dream
80

Definitely the most hit and miss album from James and Co. but it’s not without its highlights (Oh Baby, other voices, I Used To) a lot of the longer tracks are kind of unsatisfying to me, unlike their other work.

Yes - Close to the Edge
95

An amazing achievement of artistry. Right up there with Red.

Liquid Liquid - Optimo
90

Loaded with groovy, dance-y, rhythmic and unique percussion sections and repetitive fun bass grooves. Optimo is a treat for any dance punk or art punk fan. Not to mention the enormous influence on James Murphy.

Chat Pile - God’s Country
90

Completely brutal and terrifying assault on the senses. Great stuff.

Geese - 3D Country
100

Geese go through an evolution to absurdist prog-country and really hit the mark across the board. While their debut was pretty solid it was kind of derivative. This album distinguishes them as a unique group with their own distinct voice/style.

Soul Glo - Diaspora Problems
85

Pure, relentless energy.

black midi - Cavalcade
90

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this while running over the past two years.
