I hate when people use the word relaxing to praise an album, for me this is the equivalent of boredom, but well, this album is the epitome of casualness. " Flux" is a relaxing album and actually doesn't suck. Robert Turman creates soothing soundscapes with the use of instruments like piano, kalimba, drum machine, he also use loops, but most importantly he manipulates pure noise to make his work more airy and dreamy.

This album has some great qualities, it has a unique sound and personality, Karin's voice is very characteristic and that's definitely a feat for an electronic album. It is also very consistent, with intellectually complex lyrics, it's not a party album or an album that gives emphasis only to melody. In their first album, Swell Maps fused post-punk with experimental music and the result is an album with an ominous sound. The Side A seems to me the most cohesive and the one with the best crafted songs. The other 3 sides look more amateurish and not in a pleasant way, but more like failed experiments.
