This album make Young Prince, household name. There are some of the best hits from early 80's. "1999" and "Little Red Corvette" amazing songs. Opener sets the mood to dance till the end of the world and next songs is greatest song about one night stand. Other songs are about sex, but what makes Prince much more interesting is his more explicit work than rest of artist at that time. As in his songs there are said explicitly sex stuff, sex skits and orgasm. And maybe this thing could prevent from more airplay. No, both hit singles hit top 15 on Billboard and music videos for both song were in heavy rotation on MTV and they are one of the first MV by black artist on MTV. Prince is here larger than life singer. Beside him big contribution on vocals have his band members, Especcially Lisa Coleman, Dez Dickerson and Jill Jones. Instrumentation is really solid. There are some moments when synths didn't age well, but rest of it is really solid. This album shows what will come in future by Prince.
