Aimee Mann - Whatever
70

This is day 12 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 12: Whatever - Overhated and underrated by a longshot. Aimee Mann happens to give grade A performance almost every time. I've seen a few comments go on about how mediocre the LP is but I personally believe this album has a lot to offer, Aimee has a ... read more

The Marías - Submarine
60

Originally I wasn't feeling it at all. so a 60 here is solid. I can appreciate some soft pop action, but I'm not getting much out of this LP. It drones on a bit, crucify me but you can't change my mind! This album as an entire experience is for sure tightly structured but that is honestly the same reason it suffers as a project overall. Trying to get through this album as a whole is a tiring journey and you can't say I'm nitpicking and unreasonable because I ENJOY BILLIE, I ENJOY LANA DEL REY, ... read more

Radiohead - OK Computer

This is day 11 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 11: OK Computer - Already heard this classic a few times. Didn't enjoy it's robotic sound at first but later on I came around. Thom Yorke has always been an inspiration to me w/ how experimental and groundbreaking his art was and still is. Proving ... read more

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

Day 10: DSOTM - C'mon.. I'd be crazy to not have heard Dark Side of the Moon a thousand times already. Some of the greatest rock you'd ever hear in your life. Super iconic tracks, outstanding production, super artistic and completely game changing. ... read more

Yes - The Yes Album

This is day 9 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 9: The Yes Album - Ok this was a solid listen for the most part. I enjoyed just about everything, got a little tired of hearing hideaway but other than that very good stuff. No doubt the instrumentals bring everything to life on this album, kind of ... read more

Eminem - Houdini
60

Eh. Pretty fun song if you ask me. Some moments felt exaggerated and forced, Megan Thee Stallion line was pretty goofy. Overall it's alright, pretty tame attempt at rekindling the old persona. I think if anything this single comes off as a Without me pt. 2 (watered down edition). I'd mostly rather stick to bumping the original if yk what I mean.

Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygène
80

This is day 8 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 8: Oxygène - Not too much to say here but will mention how otherworldly it sounds. The synths do all the heavy lifting but manage to create a dignifying sci-fi sound. If you told me the Duffer brothers S.T. (Stranger Things) soundtrack was ... read more

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury

He's King Push for a reason! Truly Defines its era. Push and Malice are now solidified as a top 5 hip-hop group for me. If you want rap in its rawest form you should listen to this.

Favorites: Everything

John Lee Hooker - The Healer

This is day 7 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 7: The Healer - Well.. he had soul. However everything around his voice felt soulless. Almost every track felt like it had been leading nowhere. Constant edging and patience for no pay off sadly. This LP felt very off putting due to having sleepy ... read more

twenty one pilots - Clancy

Clancy brings in high expectations but slowly lets me down more and more as it goes on..

Favorites: Overcompensate, Next Semester
Least Favorite: Lavish or Navigate (it's a toss up)

Jimmy Smith - Back at the Chicken Shack
80

This is day 6 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" everyday until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 6: Back at the Chicken Shack - Truly an underappreciated record from Jimmy Smith, I get it's not the most innovative compared to someone like Nina Simone or Miles Davis. However, if you learn to just listen and take in what you're hearing than maybe ... read more

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

This is day 5 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" every day until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 5: Neon Bible - Never heard anything from them that wasn't Funeral, glad to make it out of that group. Neon Bible is a very grand, very ambitious and well structured album. Lots of emotion poured into the lyrics and lots of thought put into the ... read more

David Bowie - The Next Day

This is day 4 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" every day until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 4: The Next Day - I've heard more than enough David Bowie to come into this record knowing how great it would be. Definitely wouldn't consider it one of the best albums in his discog in my personal taste but he does have a lot to offer here. Even ... read more

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

This is day 3 of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" every day until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 3: Siamese Dream - I've already heard melon collie and I've passed through one or two songs here but this project overall is amazing, near perfect, and remarkably produced. How it didn't make it's way into the Apple music top 100 is beyond me.. ... read more

Vince Staples - Dark Times
70

California’s finest, Vince superstar Staples, The young OG, The Norf Norf soldier, The Compton Colonel himself has released his sixth official LP. Dark Times.

Vince staples seems to turn a darker corner coming into this record, no summer vibes, no light hearted jokes. In fact in the opening track he comes at us with layered messaging. I will say it’s good to see that Vince has a clear display of versatility, I tell people everytime this man Vince Staples genuinely has the cadence ... read more

The Cars - The Cars

This marks the beginning of my Journey where I listen to the essential "1001 albums you must hear before you die" every day until I either finish or inevitably meet my end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 1: The Cars - I enjoyed the throwback 70s synth sounds. As dated as this album may be, I do have fond feelings towards what almost every track has to offer. It's about as motivating and feel good as you'd expect considering the era it ... read more

Beyoncé - COWBOY CARTER
80

I find myself drawn to this countryside aspect of Beyoncé, it's only right that the Texas Pop legend finally takes a stab at the genre that defines her South American roots. Overall she does a solid job at delivering almost every track. I especially appreciate the more vulnerable and raw emotion songs on this LP, sometimes the heartfelt writing alongside harmonious production is enough to bring tears and even get lost in. Great to see her live up to her "Queen Bey" ... read more

"Cuz the writing is unbearably horrendous lmao. How could you possibly take her seriously? She tries so hard to create a serious atmosphere with thought provoking undertones but ends up writing some seriously goofy shit. I can drop multiple lines from almost every song that are super cringe."

"@Bandia If I don't mention a song sometimes it may mean that I don't really feel much for it therefore I don't have anything to really speak on but I can understand where you're coming from. I see the appeal, both picnic in paris and stargazing have great vocal performances I don't mind plus the atmosphere is very soothing. However they just don't stand out too much compared to the higher highs he's had on the album in my opinion but that's personal taste."
