Brånd is a project from my hometown, Linz, and they've been at it for decade now. Their fusion of Austrian folklore, black metal, post-punk, and krautrock results in a sound that's completely their own. While all of their previous EPs are excellent, this is the release where they truly found their sound. The result is an album that towers above the current scene. Brånd deserves every bit of praise coming their way. Heilige Linz!
It feels like quite a few tracks don’t really go anywhere or end without feeling finished.
There are definitely some standout songs here like "Pay Pigs" or "Bedrot" but about half the record left me wanting more.
15 Mike songs and every one of them is pretty much ass.
Earl’s side is better, but also lackluster compared to his previous release.
Quantity over quality on this one. I’m not sure what to do with a one-minute hip-hop track that goes nowhere.
This shit ain’t grindcore.
But I have to say the beats are not the problem, most of them are interesting with a nice ambient touch.
The Most Important German Working Class Record until this day. Didn't age one bit.
Starts and ends with two of the best shoegaze songs ever!
Overall a beautiful record which feels like a classic now.
This is a more then solid effort. I appreciate the slight electronic elements, they add a new interesting layer to the band.
Although I wished the breakbeat style drums would have made a comeback later in the tracklist. It can make the second side feel a bit incoherent. But looking at the singular songs they are still great.
This project is truly one of a kind. The combination of hurdy-gurdy, accordion, and other howling instruments creates a more than haunting drone folk soundscape.
Very solid EBM and insanely good live band.
My Highlight from this years Grauzone Festival!
Only available on tape, no tracklist, just 20min of moody dungeon synth and classical music movements.
A major step up from their demo, anarcho hardcore punk from Vienna to look out for!
With a touch of deathrock sprinkled in.
FFO: Exit Order, Hellscape, C.A.M.O.
Very underated and heavy ep vom the V-Boys. The new stuff is fun but I wish they would go back to this rawer sound!
Man... with what an album you have left us and I can't imagine a better swan song then "In A Dress". Rest Easy Snock!
Fuck me, might as well drop the sludge and become a dark americana band.
Apocalyptic & beautiful collab effort.
There is this synth buried in the mix that occasionally comes through on the title track which sounded like my ringtone, made it even more terrifying, or I'm just slowly turning insane.
