#492: Bonnie Raitt - Nick of Time
'Nick of Time' was a pretty big record for Bonnie Raitt, as it was critically acclaimed and even ended up winning album of the year at the Grammys. Personally I do get some enjoyment out of this record, there's some really nice moments with great hooks and vocal performances.
I think the biggest criticism that myself and many others seem to have is the production does leave a lot to be ... read more

#493: Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear
'Here, My Dear' is Marvin Gayes fourteenth studio album and it centres around Marvins divorce with his first wife Anna. The record is raw with its emotion and Marvin clearly isn't afraid of being open and vulnerable with its audience, dealing with stages of grief, regret and lust from a young age.
But unfortunately whilst being vulnerable with his lyricsm, Marvin doesn't seem to ... read more
SEEIN' STARS: 80
I really like this style for Turnstile, I think it really suits them and especially Brendan's voice. Love the added vocals from Hayley Williams and Blood Orange.
BIRDS: 78
Nice and short little banger that's fast paced, similar to T.L.C. But nowhere near as superior as T.L.C.
Both solid tracks and I imagine they'll grow on me, especially with the context of the rest of the record.
Yet another great, fun single from HAIM!
This new record could be a sleeper pick for one of the best records this year
In love with this new single!
Has such a great chorus with dark but bouncy production throughout, this is definitely a return to form from her
I'm gonna go on a big reviewing spree of all new records whether it's from this year or last year, I'm going to get through a good chunk of records I've been meaning to review, this being the start of that long list of records.
I thought this was pretty good upon first listen but my god it's grown on me so much, to the point where I might end up preferring it to "For the First Time". I'm not at that stage yet but it's definitely possible, but for ... read more
I know this sounds very similar to MYSTERY and it's definitely a safe first single to release but I don't care I really enjoy this track. Again it's nothing groundbreaking for Turnstile but it's just very enjoyable for me and I love the whole feel of this, almost feels like a victory lap for them.
Cannot wait for this new album
Also that transition is gonna hit so damn hard
I've been slacking so much on this so I need to get back into reviewing asap, but man this is clean as hell.
Big fan of the production and vocal performances on this, Addison is really starting to blossom as an artist
Really enjoying the feel of this track and the intimate production. Always had a soft spot for HAIM, can't wait to hear the new album!
Might be the best single by the duo so far, just about beating the first single. Cant wait to hear what these are gonna cook up with a full project
One of her best songs to date easily.
Fun bouncy production and she sounds great on this. Can't wait to hear the new mixtape!

#494: The Ronettes - Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica
This is a harmlessly fine pop record from the 1960s which stays fairly consistent throughout, with a couple of standout songs here and there. I think there's only so much you can expect with a pop record from this time because pop music in general was quite limited to the same chord progressions and instrumentals.
Some of the vocal peformances standout to ... read more
In love with the dark and gritty energy in this, Obongjayar on the chorus is so sick too. Great to see him collabing with Simz again.
I see people complain about the mixing of the vocals and it's understandable but I think having Simz vocals a little quieter than usual just makes them more eerie and darker if anything, so I personally think they fit the track perfectly!
This also feels like a great taster for what to expect from this record. Simple goated

#495: Boyz II Men - II
This was an album I was quite looking forward to and had weirdly high expectations for it, plus this was a record my dad loved at a young age which was always funny to me but it was an album I was most definitely excited about. But unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype I had for some reason hoped for.
I mean it's okay, like it's just a run of the mill R&B record from the 90s that gained ... read more

#496: Shakira - Dónde Están los Ladrones?
An all round great pop rock record with elements of course Latin pop, singer-songwriter and alternative rock. This was a record I was very excited to cover because Latin music is something that I've enjoyed before and I've wanted to delve deeper into. I think this is great for me as there's elements of it throughout but it's cushioned nicely with genres that ... read more
Whilst there are tracks on this that I really enjoy, the record as a whole just doesn't feel like a step up in anyway shape of form. It's still a TMC record, it's solid at the very least and there's nothing unlistenable on this whatsoever, but it just feels too safe. They don't take any major risks with this to take them to the next step.
It's unfortunate because when I heard the singles at first I wasn't too mad about them but they grew on me with time and ... read more
I think it's fine, nothing special and they're clearly going for that The Cure aesthetic right in time for summer so fair enough, but it's even more clear that this just wasn't good enough to be on the album so it's understandable for them to release it now. Might grow on me more but for now, it's grand
