I feel I have to explain myself with this one. When I was a kid, rock was what I associated with Linkin Park. Probably more than 90% of listeners did so in 2010. So when this came out I was disappointed. It didn't feature heavy guitars, no breakdowns, no "moshpit-rhythms". The sound I grew up with wasn't there. And as most naive kids do so, I also tossed this album away after very few listens. It was only years later that I realized, I didn't give it the attention it deserved when I ... read more
This was their "safe bet". I mean it makes sense. If you just released the most successful Rock record of the 2000s you try to keep that momentum going. And how to do that? Give the people what they want. And that is exactly what they did. The songs aren't as groundbreaking, as they were one album prior but that's to be expected. Hybrid theory made the formula. Meteora milked it. I'm happy though, that they started to experiment at least a bit in this record. You wouldn't hear either ... read more
This album was the introduction to all of my musical taste basically. Not every song on this record is a 10/10 but what album has that. To imagine some commited young dudes in their homes made this masterpiece is mindblowing. Every song has it's place, the flow is outstanding. Huge nostalgia as a bonus. Yeah, this record is incredible.
I'm just happy Kill Or Be Killed is on here. Without it this would be quite the sad attempt at a "Greatest Hits without being an actual Greatest Hits album" type of album that they were going for. the vocals are good in some instances, bad in others. And I'm sad that Matt Bellamy's voice is decaying a bit – or at least it seems like it. It seems Muse doesn't take themselves too serious at this point in time. Which usually isn't a bad thing. An artist going nuts in the studio ... read more
Mediocre. That's what I would call this project. No standout songs. It lacks depth and tries too hard to be this corny 80s Synth pop project. And because of that, it doesn't seem convincing. While Algorithm has some interesting moments and Blockades a nice solo, looking at this project as a whole it leaves a lot to be desired. Get Up and Fight is the first Muse song that I actually hate. I can't get past the first two seconds without skipping the song. So listening through the whole lot without ... read more
