Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns

I feel I have to explain myself with this one. When I was a kid, rock was what I associated with Linkin Park. Probably more than 90% of listeners did so in 2010. So when this came out I was disappointed. It didn't feature heavy guitars, no breakdowns, no "moshpit-rhythms". The sound I grew up with wasn't there. And as most naive kids do so, I also tossed this album away after very few listens. It was only years later that I realized, I didn't give it the attention it deserved when I ... read more

Linkin Park - Meteora

This was their "safe bet". I mean it makes sense. If you just released the most successful Rock record of the 2000s you try to keep that momentum going. And how to do that? Give the people what they want. And that is exactly what they did. The songs aren't as groundbreaking, as they were one album prior but that's to be expected. Hybrid theory made the formula. Meteora milked it. I'm happy though, that they started to experiment at least a bit in this record. You wouldn't hear either ... read more

This album was the introduction to all of my musical taste basically. Not every song on this record is a 10/10 but what album has that. To imagine some commited young dudes in their homes made this masterpiece is mindblowing. Every song has it's place, the flow is outstanding. Huge nostalgia as a bonus. Yeah, this record is incredible.

Muse - Will of the People

I'm just happy Kill Or Be Killed is on here. Without it this would be quite the sad attempt at a "Greatest Hits without being an actual Greatest Hits album" type of album that they were going for. the vocals are good in some instances, bad in others. And I'm sad that Matt Bellamy's voice is decaying a bit – or at least it seems like it. It seems Muse doesn't take themselves too serious at this point in time. Which usually isn't a bad thing. An artist going nuts in the studio ... read more

Muse - Simulation Theory

Mediocre. That's what I would call this project. No standout songs. It lacks depth and tries too hard to be this corny 80s Synth pop project. And because of that, it doesn't seem convincing. While Algorithm has some interesting moments and Blockades a nice solo, looking at this project as a whole it leaves a lot to be desired. Get Up and Fight is the first Muse song that I actually hate. I can't get past the first two seconds without skipping the song. So listening through the whole lot without ... read more

To be honest: A lot of the tracks on this album are quite forgettable. Those who aren't are great. Reapers is fantastic and still has the best solo of any Muse song. It's a staple in my playlists. Sadly also the only song from this album. While the Handler also is great there really isn't any song that I have the urge to listen to. Tracks like Mercy or Revolt are outright bad imo. And even with a track length of over ten minutes does The Globalist fall short as a progressive anthem. I was ... read more

Muse - The 2nd Law

Man, what a rollercoaster ride. Huge high points, some damn low low points. It's probably one of the most polarizing records by muse. And I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea. This album sadly really lacks in the second half. At the same time there is Animals, which blows me away every time I hear it. Sometimes I'm happy that I don't really care about lyrics. Makes the music more enjoyable without cringing hard (I've heard some people do that here). Solid first half of the album but ... read more

I really thought this was gonna be worse than it actually ended up being. Re-listening the album as a whole made me realize, that it's in fact quite decent. It's no real match for the previous three albums but the major classical influences on this album are a plus for me. I wouldn't go and listen to one of the Exogenesis tracks on its own but it makes sense in context. MK Ultra is super underrated in my opinion and people should listen to it more. Concluding, I don't really think I'd be ... read more

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations

Funnily this is one of those albums where I feel if you want to hear the quality tracks don't just consider the singles. Personally, most great tracks here are in the second half. While the whole record is quite consistent I enjoyed the latter half more than the first. And those last two songs Hoodoo and Knights of Cydonia are fantastic send-off. No wonder Muse closes their shows with that track! Less highpoints than their two previous albums but generally more consistent and a pleasant listen.

Muse - Absolution

This album was one of the albums that shaped my musical taste in the early years of my life. To this day I have huge nostalgia listening to these songs, especially when listening to Butterflies & Hurricanes. That was the first Muse song I ever heard as it was the intro to a mod of a game I used to play. Sing for Absolution has one of the best chord progressions in modern rock imo. That final chorus when the guitar hits is so good! And I also can't listen to that song without following it up ... read more

At first I didn't actually care that much about this album. Having listened to Absolution first I discovered later albums first before I tried out this peace of music. I liked what I heard when I started listening to their other material but didn't give this album a real chance. I got to admit: I absolutely love this. It's not my favorite album ever but damn does it hit. New Born and Plug in Baby were on repeat and are now a staple in all of my playlists.

Muse - Showbiz

It took me quite a while to give this one a shot. It didn't disappoint. While I believe their following work to be more cohesive and complete this is a damn strong debut album. It loses itself a bit in the second half but damn those highpoints sure are highpoints. Showing what Muse is capable of. Showbiz is still one of their best songs to date. The small piano interlude in Fillip totally caught me by surprise. But it was a welcome one, defenitely elevates the song. Also, please give Hate This ... read more
