ELUCID - INTERFERENCE PATTERN

Danggg that was good.

I'd never heard any of Elucid's stuff before, but I'm getting the feeling that this isn't a major "album" album. If I'm wrong, then let me know.

I love ambient sound stuff, and the mixture of that in between the more "fully formed" sections is really cool. All the production is amazing. The vocal samples are interesting and used well. I haven't heard his voice before, so I can't always tell what are samples and what aren't. Maybe they aren't samples and I just need to research more... Whatever the case, I liked it, and the mixture of different genres throughout was also great. The last part is supposed to be a version of "Doves" I think? I haven't heard that song or album yet, but after this I certainly want to.

I can't really figure out what specific parts I didn't like, but I think that kinda has to do with why it isn't personally perfect. Some parts were kinda forgettable and the whole thing being one "song" makes it hard for me to navigate the project and figure out what exactly I didn't like. That being said, I do love long musical ideas that demand attention, and Elucid did that pretty well for the most part. I think this album really did well in creating an imersive, well-paced, and unified experience. The Peggy produced section was a cool touch. It seems like there's a backstory to the track and these guys' relationship but honestly I have no idea what anything is about. I'm a stranger to anything Elucid and Armand Hammer, so take what I know and say with uhh, caution or salt or whatever ya want.

Anyways, I enjoyed the project a lot. It was very fun to listen to while I was falling asleep... (I obviously listened to it again in full when i was fully conscious)

I now really want to get into Elucid's and Armand Hammer's music because of this, so uhh, stay tuned if you want thoughts on that stuff 😅.

Doves is the last track on the 2024 reissue of Armand Hammer's album, "We Buy Diabetic Test Strips." ELUCID is ½ of Armand Hammer, alongside billy woods, who himself has a verse or two on this project— perhaps one of the segments you assumed to be sampled.
