Pinned Review

Green Day - American Idiot
91
As of writing this, it has been little over a month since Green Day's latest, fourteenth album called Saviors was released. While i heard some singles, i didn't go to the full length at the very moment of it dropping like many others, and instead decided to go through the entirety of band's previous discography, where i did have blind spots until now.

So far there has been great and interesting discoveries, like prefering Kerplunk over Dookie despite the latter having more clear highlights, ... read more

Usada Pekora - USAGI the MEGAMI!!

2023 was the year of the rabbit according to Chinese calendar, and the year Hololive's own bunny girl (and war criminal) Usada Pekora wanted and ended up dominating. She was the most watched female streamer of that period and at the end of the year, she had her first solo performance and coincided it with the release of her full-length debut, which...um...

...I mean, it's not bad, but it definitely feels like an afterthought. 8 tracks across 30 minutes, the first and last tracks being more ... read more

Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)

It's interesting to first listen some newer bands or artists that were inspired and influenced by older ones, and then hear those old acts and what kind of effect they had. Of course this is essentially a time loop, since those older acts were influenced by people before them and people before those etc...

With Weezer, i can probably hear some of their sound if looking through the history prior to their forming, but when listening to the Blue Album, i was reminded heavily of the pillows from ... read more

Nekomata Okayu - Neko Kaburi-Na

I do love Okayu, but man...this was kind of a nothing burger, at least compared to her previous efforts. Still holding on hope for what future holds, but with lowered expectations.
The Wonder Years - The Hum Goes On Forever
88
If The Greatest Generation is soundtrack for the lost and confused people in their 20s, The Hum Goes On Forever is soundtrack for the survivors in their 30s or 40s fighting for someone else than themselves. I'm not there yet, so former is still better than latter in my opinion (some lyrics do hit hard regardless of age), but this has the potential to be the band's magnum opus.

Unless these guys manages to make even better record, which is by all accounts possible.

The Wonder Years - Sister Cities
81
Outside of the mixing in the loud parts, i really like the sound and some of the songs in here and i wish i could give this higher rating. But my problem with it is...i can't understand what the fuck Soupy is talking about other than something sad.

Yes, i know, i'm stupid, i should understand english better than this, and this is also stupid point, but i can't help but get little irritated when i know the words sang in the songs but can't get their meaning.

For the record, i haven't yet ... read more

Hey! My project Act Tragic finally completed our sophomore album, IN THE AFTERLIFE. We have spent the last year using GarageBand on my iPad to record and mix this record, so we know it isn’t professionally produced but we make due with what we have. It is influenced by indie rock, alternative rock, folk, and many more genres with influences ranging from Depeche Mode to Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse to New Order, Radiohead to Death Cab, and many more! We would love to hear your ratings and reviews of this project so we can grow as artists and keep doing what we love!

Hello there, BetaR0c! Wanna partake in my new community list?
The topic this time will be a bit seasonal: coziest albums/songs! Imagine the perfect music for snuggling in the fluffiest blankie, sipping on some hot choccy milk while admiring the chill snowfall from the window outside.
Thanks in advance
