Starts alright, gets good, goes straight to hell. I love Gwen but god this album is so zeitgeisty, the rapping only makes it worse. The run from “Where Would I Be?” to “Send Me A Picture” is the strongest part of this album
She’s doing this american life madonna meets the velvet underground thing and i think you guys will look back and really appreciate it.
Loved how zeitgeisty this album was, I think if I had to show anyone what music sounded like during the pandemic i’d show them this. The sound fluctuates between bedroom pop and alternative rnb in a way i think is really dated with some parts reminding me of Doja’s Amala. Judging by the number and length of tracks, it seems like they could’ve joined some songs together to make the sound more enjoyable and easier to follow.
Not a fan of the spoken word but i enjoyed some lyrics and the instruments
I don’t have a problem with the music as individual tracks, but im not a big fan of the album as a whole. I really enjoyed how each song seemed to have its own atmosphere without diverging, I mean the title is pretty accurate. I also thought the ... read more
New territory for me and not much to say other than nice vocals and instrumentation. Thought I should give it a listen because of how much i’ve been enjoying Olivia Dean’s Art of Loving and i read somewhere that she cited Chet Baker as being one of her influences, which I can now totally hear in the writing and understated yet compelling tone. The only thing I wish there was more of is the grandiose instruments that pop in here and there
Incredible vocals and production but some parts (very little) could be more engaging
