am i amazed by how incredible this album is? yes, absolutely. am i surprised that it’s this good? no, absolutely not. ever since the release of the lead single and announcement of the album, this has been my most anticipated album of the year. with the quantity of the lead single as well as wolf alice’s amazing track record, i had extremely high hopes for this album. and looking back, having expectations this high for any album can lead to major disappointment if the album isn’t as good as you expected, but i was far from disappointed. this album is fucking incredible. dream pop is a genre i’m pretty mixed on. on one hand, most of the time it’s really damn beautiful. on the other, i feel that a lot of times it can feel like it doesn’t have much variety. luckily, this album is both insanely beautiful and filed to the brim with variety. from the fiona apple-esque “delicious things”, the grungey “smile”, and even the riot grrl inspired “play the greatest hits”, this album has everything. ellie has such a good voice and the instrumentals are always soooooo serene. i could really gush about how good this is for all day but i’ll just leave it here. go check this out goddammit!
