I asked many users on the platform for their top 10 albums of all time. Using the responses, I introduced a points tally, which goes by the following:
1st - 10 Points
2nd - 9 Points
3rd - 8 Points
...and so forth
The points accumulated from each person make up the album's grand total, which judges their position on the list. If two albums have the same total, they're ranked by the number of people voted for it, then by 10 point votes and then by top 3 votes. I also asked some people to give a small blurb about each record in the top 10, just to add a bit more background on them and why they're so beloved (LYSF… was in the top 10, but since got tipped off, so that has a foreword too). Don't take the word 'definitive' in the title seriously; I just thought it sounded cool.
I'm sorry that this took so long to release. Thank you all so much for contributing, I can definitely say, due to all your additions, all the work was 100% worth it. There were 622 different albums suggested, which is mad. The variety of responses that I got is fascinating, and I hope you all find it as interesting as I did. Most people had at least one pick end up in the list but, if you didn't, I'm truly sorry. I wanted to include as many people as I could, and it sucks that some missed out.
Special s/o goes to everyone kind enough to put up with my constant bothering and write a foreword. I can't stress how much I appreciate it; all of your responses were awesome.
@oakie, I'm really sorry that I had to condense your response; the shoutbox didn't have enough space to contain all of it. I tried getting the gist of it, so I hope I did. If you want to read her full foreword, click the link below:
https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/shoutbox/conversation.php?x=25839&z=109569
If you want to contribute to the list, feel free to drop your top 10 in my shoutbox; I'll be more than happy to include you. Thank you all for your kind comments; I really appreciate everything you've said.
Enjoy the list!

Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly -- This honestly needs no introduction. This album is like a thesis statement of racism in modern American society, ranging everything from black exploitation to Eurocentric beauty standards. In my opinion, this is the most effective an album has been on shedding light on racism.
'To Pimp A Butterfly' is not only a crowning achievement in Kendrick's discography, but for Hip-Hop as a whole. Sure, it's not the most influential project of the decade, nor is it the most experimental, but the record was certainly a ballsy move for K-Dot to release an album of this caliber following it's more accessible predecessor. And alas, obviously we're all familiar with the eminence of 'To Pimp A Butterfly', with it being the highest rated album in all of AOTY. The unapologetic anger in Kendrick's rapping, the hard-hitting and spirited lyricism, the flawless fusion of jazz, funk, and classic west-coast Hip-Hop on the production all formulates for a passionate, bold, fiery odyssey that is justified it's placement in the greatest albums of all time lists. It's beyond perfection.

Radiohead's "OK Computer" is probably the most complete album experience there is out there. it covers most of the narrative elements of your typical novel, and the instrumentals illustrate that as well. Thom Yorke's singing is great and incredibly accessible, and most if not all of the album appeals sonically to rock fans of any kind.
Radiohead’s “OK Computer” is a timeless record. Despite its title, it’s an incredibly human body of work that not only subverted people’s conception of what rock music should sound in the 90s but it also predicted how impactful and important technology would be in the 21st century. It paints an image of a dystopian world that might not be that far away from our reality anymore, perhaps we’re actually already living in it. To me this album kinda serves as a wake up call – we’ve gotten to a point where something that was initially designed to be a good and helpful thing is now corrupting our lives from the inside. Technology is a double-edged sword: while it may be something fun and revolutionary, it also can take away many essential things from our living, and that’s what this record represents in my vision.

“Vespertine” is the greatest art pop album of all time and Björk’s greatest artistic achievement in my opinion. Like most of Björk’s albums, “Vespertine” has had a wide influence across electronic and pop music but has also received wide appreciation from critics and fans alike. The influences of progressive pop, glitch, and microsound create a varied and vastly textured album that I wouldn’t change anything about. It’s just so beautiful, and there’s a subtlety to the album that only gets better with age. Björk’s writing is also great and tackled themes of sensuality and love, which are greatly complimented by the album’s minimalist, natural sound.

A Foreword by @Jamobo:
The impact of "In Rainbows" is really only properly beginning to reveal itself in these last few years, with its songs getting covered by Electronic artist Kelly Lee Owens and Neo-Soul singer Lianne La Havas just last year as well as Classic Rock guitarist Peter Frampton just a few months ago. It's also very clearly influenced some other Indie-Rock acts like Everything Everything and their album "Re-Animator" last year. Possibly the biggest effect was its release, as the album was initially offered up as pay-what-you-want on the band's site. The idea of separating from a major label and releasing your music for whatever the fans will pay is becoming more and more popular, especially with sites like bandcamp offering to host for reasonable rates. For me the album became a gateway into so much better music. Previously, I was basically just listening to post-grunge and hard rock, but "In Rainbows" opened my ears to the idea of listening to more Pop friendly music, to more melodically complex stuff as well as some Electronic music. It's possible some other album could have had a similar effect on me given enough time, but it arrived right when I needed to expand my horizons in a few ways and took charge musically.

Frank Ocean's Blonde is a powerhouse of neo-soul. From its tumultuous and notably eventful lead up to release to its groundbreaking effects on the RnB and soul genres, which took place almost immediately, this album's stance in musical history is, without a doubt, prominent. Taking a more abstract direction from Ocean's previous works, this record was one of the first to place progressive soul in the limelight, featuring a wide array of melodies, shrouded in either raw emotion or heavy autotune, over minimalist, euphoric sonic soundscapes, which effectively display Ocean's dreams and melancholia. Blonde's role in my experiences as a listener, too, are indelible; without it, I don't think I would have ever discovered at least 90% of the artists I hear now. When I first heard it, it was the first time where I really appreciated an album as a true experience; an artistic statement that moved me to the core. The almost infinite array of emotions that Ocean explores on this self-reflective project; a touching and deep exploration of his duality, never fail to completely amaze me, every single time I hear it. The lyrics are genius and thematically enriching, the vocals are euphoric, the production is transcendental; there is not a single area where this record holds back. Blonde is one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had with just any form of art which, even on multiple relistens, never loses its potency or ability to emotionally rivet me throughout.

A Foreword by @OswaldDatenzwal
Madlib and MF DOOM teaming up resulted in the most important project to come out in the past 20 years, an exemplar of the importance of individuality. Madlib cemented himself as one of the greatest sound creators of all time by effectively creating this muddy, groggy haze through the hums and pulses found on “Accordion” and the lurid bassline on “Meatgrinder”, only for the album to be slapped back into consciousness with the playful hypnotism found on “Raid” and “America’s Most Blunted”, all animated through a tight and intelligent use of cartoony sound clips. DOOM juxtaposes the animation with a sinister and gravelly vocal performance matched with a consistently hypnotic flow, which he weaponizes to cover topics ranging from weed, a schizophrenic prostitute, and a diss track directed to himself. DOOM’s signature style of intricate rhyme schemes coupled with wit and personality is matched by the off-kilter production from Madlib, resulting in a brutalization of the norms of hip hop, birthing the vortex of creativity we are in right now. Without DOOM and Madlib you don’t have the Tyler the creator, the Aesop Rock, the Earl sweatshirt, the Open mike eagle, you could even argue that Thom Yorke and Damon Albarn were affected by this release; these are artist right now who are currently pushing their respective genres into territories it has never seen before and you can directly trace their origin to this little indie record

What makes In the Aeroplane Over the Sea great for me is its perfect blend of lo-fi noise and heartfelt ballads - the distortion gives it more desperation or rock action throughout. Its mix of old-timey band music with modern rock makes it unique because it helps tie in themes of World War 2 and Anne Frank - like a time traveller went back to 1945 and showed people rock music. The lo-fi production inspired other bands to take a similar direction, like Bright Eyes, AJJ, Jeff Rosenstock and Melanie Martinez. ITAOTS has a wildly shared sentiment of personal depth and passion, so people can connect due to a shared love of it. It was my gateway to folk, noise rock, band music, horn instruments, jazz and more. That alone means lots to me because I'm SUPER into them now; I don't think I'd be listening to as much of or even rating music without the push from ITAOTS. I have 600+ scrobbles on it on last.fm because whenever I'm sad or want to feel comforted I put it on. It's like a warm blanket and a cup of tea in the middle of winter: a hug in musical form. Any album that comforting to me that consistently is EASILY one of my favourites, and ITAOTS is numero uno, so you can imagine how much personal connection I have with this. It taught me inspiration can come from anywhere; this album was written about/for Anne Frank because Jeff happened to stumble into a bookstore, pick up her diary and go insane because he was sad she died how she did. That taught me you don't need an epiphany or breakup to make deeply touching music; you can write about how much you love your dog and it'll connect with people.

Sufjan Stevens' Illinois is to me at least is the definition of a perfect album. It's boundless in its creativity, experimental enough to sink your head into, yet accessible to anyone simply searching for a tranquil experience, with bittersweet lyrics complete with warm compositions and lush productions that...you know. Fuck it. This is a perfect album in every way. Just leave it like that.

"Kid A" is the existential anthem of the 21st century, the battle between organic and electronic and the in-decisions that lie in-between. Homogenic, to me, is a perfect thing. In every way. It is a genius experimental mix of beautiful chamber music and mature art pop with harsh and revolutionary glitchy electronic percussion. Every song is perfect and it simply feels like such a landmark in not only Björk's career but also music as a whole. The 90's were an extremely important part of electronic music's evolution and existence, with artists like The Orb creating beautiful ambient universes within music, Aphex Twin inventing the genre of idm, and Matmos showcasing the bizarre world of experimental plunderphonics within the genre. Björk's role in this genre became quite clear with her 1997 masterpiece, Homogenic. Previously established as a simple pop star with her first two albums, Björk proved to the music world that she is much more than that. She combined the world of electronic with the world of pop. It's a very personal album to me with no flaws!

I know I'm not alone when I say that Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven is an album that I have a very deep personal connection to. It's one of those albums that you can listen to a hundred times and never get bored of, uncovering tiny details you never noticed before in every listen. This album is packed full of some of the greatest and most emotional moments in music history, whether that be its grand opening, its mysterious samples, or its droning, melancholic outro, all merging together to make a monolithic hour and a half long post-rock masterpiece. There are a couple of albums that I consider to be "perfect", but Lift Your Skinny Fists is the album that deserves that title the most.
I would say that LYSF is one of the best and most important records I’ve ever heard in my life is for the fact that it conveys such potent emotions and themes in pure instrumental form. I’m able to follow a linear story that is filled with emotion and depth, one that is true to the human condition, filled with victory, uncertainty, life and death. It’s truly such an enriching experience and Post-Rock’s tropes have pretty much been built off of the building blocks for this record. The momentous occasions on this record have allowed for waves to be made in the genre as may have tried emulating what they only could pull off.
